| Wujūhun Yawma'idhin Khāshi`ahun | 088-002* Some faces will be downcast on that day, | وُجُوه ٌٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَة ٌ |
| `Āmilatun Nāşibahun | 088-003* laboring, toiling. | عَامِلَةٌ نَاصِبَة ٌ |
| Taşlá Nārāan Ĥāmiyahan | 088-004* They will roast in a scorching fire; | تَصْلَى نَارا ً حَامِيَة ً |
| Tusqá Min `Aynin 'Āniyahin | 088-005* offered a boiling spring to drink from, | تُسْقَى مِنْ عَيْن ٍ آنِيَة ٍ |
| Laysa Lahum Ţa`āmun 'Illā Min Đarī`in | 088-006* they will have no food except some cactus | لَيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَام ٌ إِلاَّ مِنْ ضَرِيع ٍ |
| Lā Yusminu Wa Lā Yughnī Min Jū`in | 088-007* which will neither fatten (them) nor satisfy their hunger. Paradise | لاَ يُسْمِنُ وَلاَ يُغْنِي مِنْ جُوع ٍ |
| Wujūhun Yawma'idhin Nā`imahun | 088-008* Other faces will be blissful on that day, | وُجُوه ٌٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاعِمَة ٌ |
| Lisa`yihā Rāđiyahun | 088-009* pleased with their effort, | لِسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَة ٌ |
| Fī Jannatin `Āliyahin | 088-010* (dwelling) in a lofty garden. | فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَة ٍ |
| Lā Tasma`u Fīhā Lāghiyahan | 088-011* No loose talk will be heard in it. | لاَ تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لاَغِيَة ً |
| Fīhā `Aynun Jāriyahun | 088-012* There will be a flowing spring there; | فِيهَا عَيْن ٌ جَارِيَة ٌ |
| Fīhā Sururun Marfū`ahun | 088-013* by it couches will be raised up, | فِيهَا سُرُرٌ مَرْفُوعَة ٌ |
| Wa 'Akwābun Mawđū`ahun | 088-014* glasses set in place, | وَأَكْوَابٌ مَوْضُوعَة ٌ |
| Wa Namāriqu Maşfūfahun | 088-015* cushions lined up | وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَة ٌ |
| Wa Zarābīyu Mabthūthahun | 088-016* and carpets spread around. | وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَة ٌ |
| 'Afalā Yanžurūna 'Ilá Al-'Ibili Kayfa Khuliqat | 088-017* Do they not consider how camels have been created? | أَفَلاَ يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى الإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ |
| Wa 'Ilá As-Samā'i Kayfa Rufi`at | 088-018* Nor how the sky has been lifted up? | وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ |
| Wa 'Ilá Al-Jibāli Kayfa Nuşibat | 088-019* Nor how the mountains have been erected? | وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ |
| Wa 'Ilá Al-'Arđi Kayfa Suţiĥat | 088-020* Nor even how the earth has been flattened out? | وَإِلَى الأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ |
| Fadhakkir 'Innamā 'Anta Mudhakkirun | 088-021* So remind: you need only to remind! | فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُذَكِّر ٌ |
| Lasta `Alayhim Bimusayţirin | 088-022*You are no taskmaster set up over them, | لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُسَيْطِر ٍ |
| 'Illā Man Tawallá Wa Kafara | 088-023* except for someone who turns away and disbelieves; | إِلاَّ مَنْ تَوَلَّى وَكَفَرَ |
| Fayu`adhdhibuhu Al-Lahu Al-`Adhāba Al-'Akbara | 088-024* God will punish him with the worst torment. | فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الأَكْبَرَ |
| 'Inna 'Ilaynā 'Īābahum | 088-025* Toward Us lies their retreat; | إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ |
| Thumma 'Inna `Alaynā Ĥisābahum | 088-026* then their reckoning will fall on Us. | ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ |
