| Waylun Lilmuţaffifīna | 083-001* It will be too bad for cheats | وَيْل ٌ لِلْمُطَفِّفِينَ |
| Al-Ladhīna 'Idhā Aktālū `Alá An-Nāsi Yastawfūna | 083-002* who insist on receiving everything when they have people measure something out for them; | الَّذِينَ إِذَا اكْتَالُوا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ |
| Wa 'Idhā Kālūhum 'Aw Wazanūhum Yukhsirūna | 083-003* yet whenever they measure or weigh things for others, they give (them) less than their due. | وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَوْ وَزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ |
| 'Alā Yažunnu 'Ūla'ika 'Annahum Mab`ūthūna | 083-004* Do not such persons suppose they will be raised up again | أَلاَ يَظُنُّ أُولَئِكَ أَنَّهُمْ مَبْعُوثُونَ |
| Liyawmin `Ažīmin | 083-005* [to render accounts] on a tremendous day, | لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيم ٍ |
| Yawma Yaqūmu An-Nāsu Lirabbi Al-`Ālamīna | 083-006* a day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? | يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| Kallā 'Inna Kitāba Al-Fujjāri Lafī Sijjīnin | 083-007* Indeed not, the loose-livers' book will be [kept] in a vault. | كَلاَّ إِنَّ كِتَابَ الفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّين ٍ |
| Wa Mā 'Adrāka Mā Sijjīnun | 083-008* What will make you realize what such a dungeon is like? | وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا سِجِّين ٌ |
| Kitābun Marqūmun | 083-009* An annotated book! | كِتَابٌ مَرْقُوم ٌ |
| Waylun Yawma'idhin Lilmukadhdhibīna | 083-010* It will be too bad for rejectors on that day, | وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ |
| Al-Ladhīna Yukadhdhibūna Biyawmi Ad-Dīni | 083-011* those who deny the Day for Repayment! | الَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ |
| Wa Mā Yukadhdhibu Bihi 'Illā Kullu Mu`tadin 'Athīmin | 083-012* Each vicious transgressor will plainly reject it; | وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ إلاَّ كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيم ٍ |
| 'Idhā Tutlá `Alayhi 'Āyātunā Qāla 'Asāţīru Al-'Awwalīna | 083-013* when Our signs are recited to him, he will say: "[These are] legends by primitive men!" | إِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الأَوَّلِينَ |
| Kallā ۖ Bal ۜ Rāna `Alá Qulūbihim Mā Kānū Yaksibūna | 083-014* Of course not; rather whatever they used to do lies like rust on their hearts. | كَلاَّ ۖ بَلْ ۜ رَانَ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ مَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ |
| Kallā 'Innahum `An Rabbihim Yawma'idhin Lamaĥjūbūna | 083-015* Indeed they will be screened off from their Lord on that day; | كَلاَّ إِنَّهُمْ عَنْ رَبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَمَحْجُوبُونَ |
| Thumma 'Innahum Laşālū Al-Jaĥīmi | 083-016* next they will roast in Hades. | ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا الْجَحِيمِ |
| Thumma Yuqālu Hādhā Al-Ladhī Kuntum Bihi Tukadhdhibūna | 083-017* Then someone will say: "This is what you have been rejecting." | ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هَذَا الَّذِي كُنتُمْ بِه ِِ تُكَذِّبُونَ |
| Kallā 'Inna Kitāba Al-'Abrāri Lafī `Illīyīna | 083-018* Of course the book for the virtuous will rest in the Highest [Heavens]. | كَلاَّ إِنَّ كِتَابَ الأَبْرَارِ لَفِي عِلِّيِّينَ |
| Wa Mā 'Adrāka Mā `Illīyūna | 083-019*What will make you realize what the Highest [Heavens] are? | وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَ |
| Kitābun Marqūmun | 083-020* An annotated book | كِتَابٌ مَرْقُوم ٌ |
| Yash/haduhu Al-Muqarrabūna | 083-021* which those closest [to God] will bear witness to. | يَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ |
| 'Inna Al-'Abrāra Lafī Na`īmin | 083-022* The virtuous will [dwell] in Bliss, | إِنَّ الأَبْرَارَ لَفِي نَعِيم ٍ |
| `Alá Al-'Arā'iki Yanžurūna | 083-023* on couches watching. | عَلَى الأَرَائِكِ يَنظُرُونَ |
| Ta`rifu Fī Wujūhihim Nađrata An-Na`īmi | 083-024* You will recognize a blissful splendor on their faces. | تَعْرِفُ فِي وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ النَّعِيمِ |
| Yusqawna Min Raĥīqin Makhtūmin | 083-025* They will be offered a scaled potion to drink | يُسْقَوْنَ مِنْ رَحِيقٍ مَخْتُوم ٍ |
| Khitāmuhu Miskun ۚ Wa Fī Dhālika Falyatanāfasi Al-Mutanāfisūna | 083-026* whose seal will be musk. For that let rivals compete! | خِتَامُه ُ مِسْكٌ ۚ وَفِي ذَلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ الْمُتَنَافِسُونَ |
| Wa Mizājuhu Min Tasnīmin | 083-027* It wifl be blended with a beverage | وَمِزَاجُه ُ مِنْ تَسْنِيم ٍ |
| `Aynāan Yashrabu Bihā Al-Muqarrabūna | 083-028* from a spring where those close [to God] will drink. | عَيْنا ً يَشْرَبُ بِهَا الْمُقَرَّبُونَ |
| 'Inna Al-Ladhīna 'Ajramū Kānū Mina Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Yađĥakūna | 083-029* Those who commit crimes used to laugh at those who believe. | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا كَانُوا مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يَضْحَكُونَ |
| Wa 'Idhā Marrū Bihim Yataghāmazūna | 083-030* Whenever they pass by them, they nod to one another. | وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ |
| Wa 'Idhā Anqalabū 'Ilá 'Ahlihimu Anqalabū Fakihīna | 083-031* Then when they go back to their own people, they return exultant. | وَإِذَا انقَلَبُوا إِلَى أَهْلِهِمُ انقَلَبُوا فَكِهِينَ |
| Wa 'Idhā Ra'awhum Qālū 'Inna Hā'uulā' Lađāllūna | 083-032* Whenever they see them, they say: "Those (men) are far astray!" | وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوا إِنَّ هَاؤُلاَء لَضَالُّونَ |
| Wa Mā 'Ursilū `Alayhim Ĥāfižīna | 083-033* They have not been sent as overseers (to be) set up over them, | وَمَا أُرْسِلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ حَافِظِينَ |
| Fālyawma Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Mina Al-Kuffāri Yađĥakūna | 083-034* so today those who believe will laugh at disbelievers, | فَالْيَوْمَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ |
| `Alá Al-'Arā'iki Yanžurūna | 083-035* from couches where they [lie] watching. | عَلَى الأَرَائِكِ يَنظُرُونَ |
| Hal Thūwiba Al-Kuffāru Mā Kānū Yaf`alūna | 083-036* Are not disbelievers being compensated for just what they have been doing? | هَلْ ثُوِّبَ الْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ |
