Hal 'Atāka Ĥadīthu Al-Ghāshiyahi  | 088.001 Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? | هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ |
Wujūhun Yawma'idhin Khāshi`ahun  | 088.002 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, | وُجُوه ٌ ٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَة ٌ |
`Āmilatun Nāşibahun  | 088.003 Labouring (hard), weary,- | عَامِلَة ٌ نَاصِبَة ٌ |
Taşlá Nārāan Ĥāmiyahan  | 088.004 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- | تَصْلَى نَاراً حَامِيَة ً |
Tusqá Min `Aynin 'Āniyahin  | 088.005 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, | تُسْقَى مِنْ عَيْن ٍ آنِيَة ٍ |
Laysa Lahum Ţa`āmun 'Illā Min Đarī`in  | 088.006 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' | لَيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَام ٌ إِلاَّ مِنْ ضَرِيع ٍ |
Lā Yusminu Wa Lā Yughnī Min Jū`in  | 088.007 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. | لاَ يُسْمِنُ وَلاَ يُغْنِي مِنْ جُوع ٍ |
Wujūhun Yawma'idhin Nā`imahun  | 088.008 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, | وُجُوه ٌ ٌ يَوْمَئِذ ٍ نَاعِمَة ٌ |
Lisa`yihā Rāđiyahun  | 088.009 Pleased with their striving,- | لِسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَة ٌ |
Fī Jannatin `Āliyahin  | 088.010 In a Garden on high, | فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَة ٍ |
Lā Tasma`u Fīhā Lāghiyahan  | 088.011 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: | لاَ تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لاَغِيَة ً |
Fīhā `Aynun Jāriyahun  | 088.012 Therein will be a bubbling spring: | فِيهَا عَيْن ٌ جَارِيَة ٌ |
Fīhā Sururun Marfū`ahun  | 088.013 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, | فِيهَا سُرُر ٌ مَرْفُوعَة ٌ |
Wa 'Akwābun Mawđū`ahun  | 088.014 Goblets placed (ready), | وَأَكْوَاب ٌ مَوْضُوعَة ٌ |
Wa Namāriqu Maşfūfahun  | 088.015 And cushions set in rows, | وَنَمَارِقُ مَصْفُوفَة ٌ |
Wa Zarābīyu Mabthūthahun  | 088.016 And rich carpets (all) spread out. | وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَة ٌ |
'Afalā Yanžurūna 'Ilá Al-'Ibili Kayfa Khuliqat  | 088.017 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- | أَفَلاَ يَنْظُرُونَ إِلَى الإِبِلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ |
Wa 'Ilá As-Samā'i Kayfa Rufi`at  | 088.018 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- | وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ |
Wa 'Ilá Al-Jibāli Kayfa Nuşibat  | 088.019 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- | وَإِلَى الْجِبَالِ كَيْفَ نُصِبَتْ |
Wa 'Ilá Al-'Arđi Kayfa Suţiĥat  | 088.020 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? | وَإِلَى الأَرْضِ كَيْفَ سُطِحَتْ |
Fadhakkir 'Innamā 'Anta Mudhakkirun  | 088.021 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. | فَذَكِّرْ إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُذَكِّر ٌ |
Lasta `Alayhim Bimusayţirin  | 088.022 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. | لَسْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِمُسَيْطِر ٍ |
'Illā Man Tawallá Wa Kafara  | 088.023 But if any turn away and reject God,- | إِلاَّ مَنْ تَوَلَّى وَكَفَرَ |
Fayu`adhdhibuhu Al-Lahu Al-`Adhāba Al-'Akbara  | 088.024 God will punish him with a mighty Punishment, | فَيُعَذِّبُهُ اللَّهُ الْعَذَابَ الأَكْبَرَ |
'Inna 'Ilaynā 'Īābahum  | 088.025 For to Us will be their return; | إِنَّ إِلَيْنَا إِيَابَهُمْ |
Thumma 'Inna `Alaynā Ĥisābahum  | 088.026 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. | ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا حِسَابَهُمْ |
