| THIS CHAPTER of 18 verses dates from the transition between the late period in Mecca and the first year in Madina. It was revealed after Prohibition 66 and before Battle Array 61. The haggling will occur on the day when God gathers everyone in and we all shall have to account for our actions. The chapter is full of suggestion when it is read attentively. | Yusabbiĥu Lillahi Mā Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Mā Fī Al-'Arđi Lahu Al-Mulku Wa Lahu Al-Ĥamdu ۖ Wa Huwa `Alá Kulli Shay'in ۖ Qadīrun | 064-001* Whatever is in Heaven and whatever is on Earth celebrates God. Control is His and praise is (also) His. He is Capable of everything! Free Choice | يُسَبِّحُ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ ۖ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ ۖ قَدِيرٌ |
| Huwa Al-Ladhī Khalaqakum Faminkum Kāfirun Wa Minkum Mu'uminun Wa ۚ Allāhu Bimā Ta`malūna Başīrun | 064-002* He is the One Who created you so that while one of you may be a disbeliever another of you is still a believer. | هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ فَمِنْكُمْ كَافِرٌ وَمِنْكُمْ مُؤْمِنٌ ۚ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ |
| Khalaqa As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđa Bil-Ĥaqqi Wa Şawwarakum Fa'aĥsana Şuwarakum ۖ Wa 'Ilayhi Al-Maşīru | 064-003* God is Observant of anything and even improved on your shapes. Towards Him lies the Goal! | خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ وَصَوَّرَكُمْ فَأَحْسَنَ صُوَرَكُمْ ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ الْمَصِيرُ |
| Ya`lamu Mā Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Ya`lamu Mā Tusirrūna Wa Mā Tu`linūna Wa ۚ Allāhu `Alīmun Bidhāti Aş-Şudūri | 064-004* He knows whatever is in Heaven and Earth, and knows anything you conceal as well as anything you disclose; God is Aware of what is on one's mind. God's Omniscience | يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُسِرُّونَ وَمَا تُعْلِنُونَ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ |
| 'Alam Ya'tikum Naba'u Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Min Qablu Fadhāqū Wabāla 'Amrihim Wa Lahum `Adhābun 'Alīmun | 064-005* Has not news come to you (all) about those who have disbelieved previously? They tasted the effect of their action and [experienced] painful torment. | أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ نَبَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِنْ قَبْلُ فَذَاقُوا وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيم ٌ |
| Dhālika Bi'annahu Kānat Ta'tīhim Rusuluhum Bil-Bayyināti Faqālū 'Abasharun Yahdūnanā Fakafarū Wa Tawallaw ۚ Wa Astaghná Al-Lahu Wa ۚ Allāhu Ghanīyun Ĥamīdun | 064-006* That was because their messengers had brought them explanations and yet they said: "Will human beings ever guide us?" So they disbelieved and turned away. God has no need of such [people]; God is Transcendent, Praiseworthy. | ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّه ُ كَانَتْ تَأْتِيهِمْ رُسُلُهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ فَقَالُوا أَبَشَرٌ يَهْدُونَنَا فَكَفَرُوا وَتَوَلَّوْا ۚ وَاسْتَغْنَى اللَّهُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ غَنِيٌّ حَمِيدٌ |
| Za`ama Al-Ladhīna Kafarū 'An Lan Yub`athū ۚ Qul Balá Wa Rabbī Latub`athunna Thumma Latunabba'uunna Bimā `Amiltum ۚ Wa Dhalika `Alá Al-Lahi Yasīrun | 064-007* The ones who disbelieve claim they will never be raised up again. SAY: "Indeed, by my Lord, you will be raised again! Then you will be notified about whatever you have been doing. That will be easy for God to do!" | زَعَمَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَنْ لَنْ يُبْعَثُوا ۚ قُلْ بَلَى وَرَبِّي لَتُبْعَثُنَّ ثُمَّ لَتُنَبَّؤُنَّ بِمَا عَمِلْتُمْ ۚ وَذَلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرٌ |
| Fa'āminū Bil-Lahi Wa Rasūlihi Wa An-Nūri Al-Ladhī 'Anzalnā Wa ۚ Allāhu Bimā Ta`malūna Khabīrun | 064-008* Believe in God and His messenger, and the Light which We have sent down. God is Informed about anything you do. | فَآمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِه ِِ وَالنُّورِ الَّذِي أَنزَلْنَا ۚ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ |
| Yawma Yajma`ukum Liyawmi Al-Jam`i ۖ Dhālika Yawmu At-Taghābuni ۗ Wa Man Yu'umin Bil-Lahi Wa Ya`mal Şāliĥāan Yukaffir `Anhu Sayyi'ātihi Wa Yudkhilhu Jannātin Tajrī Min Taĥtihā Al-'Anhāru Khālidīna Fīhā 'Abadāan ۚ Dhālika Al-Fawzu Al-`Ažīmu | 064-009* Some day He will gather you (all) in on the Day of Gathering; that will be the day for haggling! He will remit the misdeeds of anyone who believes in God and has acted honorably, and show him into gardens through which rivers flow, to live there for ever. That will be the supreme Achievement! | يَوْمَ يَجْمَعُكُمْ لِيَوْمِ الْجَمْعِ ۖ ذَلِكَ يَوْمُ التَّغَابُنِ ۗ وَمَنْ يُؤْمِنْ بِاللَّهِ وَيَعْمَلْ صَالِحا ً يُكَفِّرْ عَنْهُ سَيِّئَاتِه ِِ وَيُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدا ً ۚ ذَلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Wa Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā 'Ūlā'ika 'Aşĥābu An-Nāri Khālidīna Fīhā ۖ Wa Bi'sa Al-Maşīru | 064-010* Those who disbelieve and reject Our signs will become inhabitants of the Fire, to remain there. What an awful goal it is! (ii) | وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا أُوْلَائِكَ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ۖ وَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ |
| Mā 'Aşāba Min Muşībatin 'Illā Bi'idhni Al-Lahi ۗ Wa Man Yu'umin Bil-Lahi Yahdi Qalbahu Wa ۚ Allāhu Bikulli Shay'in `Alīmun | 064-011* No disaster has ever struck anyone unless it was with God's consent. Anyone who believes in God, has Him to guide his own heart. God is Aware of everything. | مَا أَصَابَ مِنْ مُصِيبَةٍ إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ ۗ وَمَنْ يُؤْمِنْ بِاللَّهِ يَهْدِ قَلْبَه ُ ۚ وَاللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ |
| Wa 'Aţī`ū Al-Laha Wa 'Aţī`ū Ar-Rasūla ۚ Fa'in Tawallaytum Fa'innamā `Alá Rasūlinā Al-Balāghu Al-Mubīnu | 064-012* Obey God and obey the Messenger; for if you should turn away, Our messenger needs only to proclaim things clearly. | وَأَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ ۚ فَإِنْ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَى رَسُولِنَا الْبَلاَغُ الْمُبِينُ |
| Al-Lahu Lā 'Ilāha 'Illā Huwa ۚ Wa `Alá Al-Lahi Falyatawakkali Al-Mu'uminūna | 064-013* God, there is no deity except Him; so on God [Alone] let believers rely! | اللَّهُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ ۚ وَعَلَى اللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'Inna Min 'Azwājikum Wa 'Awlādikum `Adūwāan Lakum Fāĥdharūhum ۚ Wa 'In Ta`fū Wa Taşfaĥū Wa Taghfirū Fa'inna Al-Laha Ghafūrun Raĥīmun | 064-014* You who believe, some of your spouses and children may be your own enemies, so beware of them! Yet if you pardon, condone and forgive [them], God will (likewise) be Forgiving, Merciful. | يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّ مِنْ أَزْوَاجِكُمْ وَأَوْلاَدِكُمْ عَدُوّا ً لَكُمْ فَاحْذَرُوهُمْ وَإِنْ ۚ تَعْفُوا وَتَصْفَحُوا وَتَغْفِرُوا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ |
| 'Innamā 'Amwālukum Wa 'Awlādukum Fitnatun Wa ۚ Allāhu `Indahu 'Ajrun `Ažīmun | 064-015* Your wealth and your children are simply a [means on testing [you]. Yet God holds a splendid fee. | إِنَّمَا أَمْوَالُكُمْ وَأَوْلاَدُكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ ۚ وَاللَّهُ عِنْدَهُ~ُ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ |
| Fāttaqū Al-Laha Mā Astaţa`tum Wa Asma`ū Wa 'Aţī`ū Wa 'Anfiqū Khayrāan Li'nfusikum ۗ Wa Man Yūqa Shuĥĥa Nafsihi Fa'ūlā'ika Humu Al-Mufliĥūna | 064-016* Heed God however you can manage to; hear, obey and spend money on one another. Those who feel secure from their own soul's grasping, will be successful. | فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ وَاسْمَعُوا وَأَطِيعُوا وَأَنفِقُوا خَيْرا ً لِأنْفُسِكُمْ ۗ وَمَنْ يُوقَ شُحَّ نَفْسِه ِِ فَأُوْلَائِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ |
| 'In Tuqriđū Al-Laha Qarđāan Ĥasanāan Yuđā`ifhu Lakum Wa Yaghfir Lakum Wa ۚ Allāhu Shakūrun Ĥalīmun | 064-017* If you will advance God a handsome loan, He will compound it for you and forgive you. God is Appreciative, Lenient; | إِنْ تُقْرِضُوا اللَّهَ قَرْضا ً حَسَنا ً يُضَاعِفْهُ لَكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ۚ وَاللَّهُ شَكُورٌ حَلِيمٌ |
| `Ālimu Al-Ghaybi Wa Ash-Shahādati Al-`Azīzu Al-Ĥakīmu | 064-018* Knowing the Unseen and the Visible, [He is] the Powerful, the Wise! | عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ |
