Lā 'Uqsimu Bihadhā Al-Baladi |
090-001. Nay! I swear by this city. |
Wa 'Anta Ĥillun Bihadhā Al-Baladi |
090-002. And you shall be made free from obligation in this city-- |
Wa Wālidin Wa Mā Walada |
090-003. And the begetter and whom he begot. |
Laqad Khalaqnā Al-'Insāna Fī Kabadin |
090-004. Certainly We have created man to be in distress. |
'Ayaĥsabu 'An Lan Yaqdira `Alayhi 'Aĥadun |
090-005. Does he think that no one has power over him? |
Yaqūlu 'Ahlaktu Mālāan Lubadāan |
090-006. He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. |
'Ayaĥsabu 'An Lam Yarahu 'Aĥadun |
090-007. Does he think that no one sees him? |
'Alam Naj`al Lahu `Aynayni |
090-008. Have We not given him two eyes, |
Wa Lisānāan Wa Shafatayni |
090-009. And a tongue and two lips, |
Wa Hadaynāhu An-Najdayni |
090-010. And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways? |
Falā Aqtaĥama Al-`Aqabaha |
090-011. But he would not attempt the uphill road, |
Wa Mā 'Adrāka Mā Al-`Aqabahu |
090-012. And what will make you comprehend what the uphill road is? |
Fakku Raqabahin |
090-013. (It is) the setting free of a slave, |
'Aw 'Iţ`āmun Fī Yawmin Dhī Masghabahin |
090-014. Or the giving of food in a day of hunger |
Yatīmāan Dhā Maqrabahin |
090-015. To an orphan, having relationship, |
'Aw Miskīnāan Dhā Matrabahin |
090-016. Or to the poor man lying in the dust. |
Thumma Kāna Mina Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa Tawāşaw Biş-Şabri Wa Tawāşaw Bil-Marĥamahi |
090-017. Then he is of those who believe and charge one another to show patience, and charge one another to show compassion. |
'Ūlā'ika 'Aşĥābu Al-Maymanahi |
090-018. These are the people of the right hand. |
Wa Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Bi'āyātinā Hum 'Aşĥābu Al-Mash'amahi |
090-019. And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. |
`Alayhim Nārun Mu'uşadahun |
090-020. On them is fire closed over. |
