Wa A dh -Dh ār iyā ti Dh arwan (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 1).
051.001 By those that winnow with a winnowing
وَالذَّارِ يَا تِ ذَرْواً
Fālĥāmilā ti Wiq rā an (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 2).
051.002 And those that bear the burden (of the rain)
فَالْحَامِلاَتِ وِقْ راً
Fāljār iyā ti Yusrā an (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 3).
051.003 And those that glide with ease (upon the sea)
فَالْجَارِ يَا تِ يُسْراً
Fālmuq assimā ti 'Am rā an (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 4).
051.004 And those who distribute (blessings) by command,
فَالْمُقَ سِّمَا تِ أَمْراً
'Inn amā Tū`adū na Laş ādiq un (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 5).
051.005 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true,
إِنَّ مَا تُوعَدُو نَ لَصَ اد ِقٌ
Wa 'Inn a A d-Dī na Lawāq i`un (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 6).
051.006 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall.
وَإِنّ َ ا ل دِّي نَ لَوَاق ِ عٌ
Wa A s-Samā 'i Dh ā ti A l-Ĥubuki (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 7).
051.007 By the heaven full of paths,
وَالسَّمَا ءِ ذَا تِ ا لْحُبُ كِ
'Inn akum Lafī Q aw lin Mukh talifin (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 8).
051.008 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth).
إِنَّ كُمْ لَفِي قَ وْ لٍ مُخْ تَلِفٍ
Yu'ufaku `Anhu Man 'Ufika (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 9).
051.009 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse.
يُؤْفَكُ عَنْ هُ مَن ْ أُفِكَ
Q utila A l-Kh arrā ş ū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 10).
051.010 Accursed be the conjecturers
قُ تِلَ ا لْخَ رَّ اصُ ونَ
Al-Ladh ī na Hum Fī Gh am ra tin Sāhū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 11).
051.011 Who are careless in an abyss!
ا لَّذِي نَ هُمْ فِي غَ مْرَ ةٍ سَاهُونَ
Yas'alū na 'Ayyā na Yaw mu A d-Dī ni (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 12).
051.012 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment ?
يَسْأَلُو نَ أَيَّا نَ يَوْ مُ ا ل دِّينِ
Yaw ma Hum `Alá A n -Nā r i Yuftanū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 13).
051.013 (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire,
يَوْ مَ هُمْ عَلَى ا ل نّ َا رِ يُفْتَنُونَ
Dh ūq ū Fitnatakum Hādh ā A l-Ladh ī Kun tum Bihi Tasta`jilū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 14).
051.014 (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten.
ذُوقُ وا فِتْنَتَكُمْ هَذَا ا لَّذِي كُن تُمْ بِهِ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ
'Inn a A l-Muttaq ī na Fī Jann ā tin Wa `Uyū nin (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 15).
051.015 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings,
إِنّ َ ا لْمُتَّقِ ي نَ فِي جَنّ َا تٍ وَعُيُونٍ
'Ā kh idh ī na Mā 'Ātāhum Ra bbuhum ۚ 'Inn ahum Kānū Q ab la Dh ālika Muĥsinī na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 16).
051.016 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good;
آخِ ذِي نَ مَا آتَاهُمْ رَ بُّهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ هُمْ كَانُوا قَ بْ لَ ذَلِكَ مُحْسِنِينَ
Kānū Q alīlāan Mina A l-Lay li Mā Yahja`ū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 17).
051.017 They used to sleep but little of the night,
كَانُوا قَ لِيلاً مِنَ ا ل لَّيْ لِ مَا يَهْجَعُونَ
Wa Bil-'Asĥā r i Hum Yastagh firū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 18).
051.018 And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness,
وَبِالأَسْحَا رِ هُمْ يَسْتَغْ فِرُونَ
Wa Fī 'Am wālihim Ĥaq q un Lilssā 'ili Wa A l-Maĥrū mi (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 19).
051.019 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share.
وَفِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ حَقّ ٌ لِلسَّا ئِلِ وَا لْمَحْرُومِ
Wa Fī A l-'Arđi 'Āyā tun Lilmūq inī na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 20).
051.020 And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure.
وَفِي ا لأَرْضِ آيَا ت ٌ لِلْمُوقِ نِينَ
Wa Fī 'An fusikum ۚ 'Afalā Tub ş irū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 21).
051.021 And (also) in yourselves. Can ye then not see ?
وَفِي أَن فُسِكُمْ ۚ أَفَلاَ تُبْ صِ رُونَ
Wa Fī A s-Samā 'i R izq ukum Wa Mā Tū`adū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 22).
051.022 And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised;
وَفِي ا ل سَّمَا ءِ رِ زْقُ كُمْ وَمَا تُوعَدُونَ
Fawara b bi A s-Samā 'i Wa A l-'Arđi 'Inn ahu Laĥaq q un Mith la Mā 'Ann akum Tan ţ iq ū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 23).
051.023 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak.
فَوَرَ بِّ ا ل سَّمَا ءِ وَا لأَرْضِ إِنَّ هُ لَحَقّ ٌ مِثْلَ مَا أَنَّ كُمْ تَن طِ قُ ونَ
Hal 'Atā ka Ĥadīth u Đ ay fi 'Ib rā hī ma A l-Mukra mī na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 24).
051.024 Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad) ?
هَلْ أَتَا كَ حَدِي ثُ ضَ يْ فِ إِبْ رَ اهِي مَ ا لْمُكْرَ مِينَ
'Idh Dakh alū `Alay hi Faq ālū Salāmāan ۖ Q ā la Salā mun Q aw mun Mun karū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 25).
051.025 When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me).
إِذْ دَخَ لُوا عَلَيْ هِ فَقَ الُوا سَلاَماً ۖ قَ ا لَ سَلاَمٌ قَ وْ مٌ مُن كَرُونَ
Farā gh a 'Ilá 'Ahlihi Fajā 'a Bi`ij lin Samī nin (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 26).
051.026 Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf;
فَرَ ا غَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ فَجَا ءَ بِعِجْ لٍ سَمِينٍ
Faq arra bahu 'Ilayhim Q ā la 'Alā Ta'kulū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 27).
051.027 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat ?
فَقَ رَّ بَهُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَ ا لَ أَلاَ تَأْكُلُونَ
Fa'awjasa Minhum Kh īfatan ۖ Q ālū Lā Takh af ۖ Wa Bash sh arū hu Bigh ulā min `Alī min (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 28).
051.028 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: Fear not! and gave him tidings of (the birth of) a wise son.
فَأَوْجَسَ مِنْ هُمْ خِ يفَةً ۖ قَ الُوا لاَ تَخَ فْ ۖ وَبَشَّرُو هُ بِغُ لاَمٍ عَلِيمٍ
Fa'aq balati A m ra 'atuhu Fī Ş arra tin Faş akkat Waj hahā Wa Q ālat `Ajū zun `Aq ī mun (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 29).
051.029 Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman!
فَأَقْ بَلَتِ ا مْرَ أَتُهُ فِي صَ رَّ ةٍ فَصَ كَّتْ وَجْ هَهَا وَقَ الَتْ عَجُو زٌ عَقِ يمٌ
Q ālū Kadh āliki Q ā la Ra bbuki ۖ 'Inn ahu Huwa A l-Ĥakī mu A l-`Alī mu (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 30).
051.030 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower.
قَ الُوا كَذَلِكِ قَ ا لَ رَ بُّكِ ۖ إِنَّ هُ هُوَ ا لْحَكِي مُ ا لْعَلِيمُ
Q ā la Famā Kh aţ bukum 'Ayyuhā A l-Mursalū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 31).
051.031 (Abraham) said: And (afterward) what is your errand, O ye sent (from Allah) ?
قَ ا لَ فَمَا خَ طْ بُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ا لْمُرْسَلُونَ
Q ālū 'Inn ā 'Ursilnā 'Ilá Q aw min Muj r imī na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 32).
051.032 They said: Lo! we are sent unto a guilty folk,
قَ الُو ا إِنَّ ا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَى قَ وْ مٍ مُجْ رِ مِينَ
Linursila `Alayhim Ĥijāra tan Min Ţ ī nin (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 33).
051.033 That we may send upon them stones of clay,
لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَ ةً مِن ْ طِ ينٍ
Musawwama tan `In da Ra bbika Lilmusr ifī na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 34).
051.034 Marked by thy Lord for (the destruction of) the wanton.
مُسَوَّمَةً عِنْ دَ رَ بِّكَ لِلْمُسْرِ فِينَ
Fa'akh ra j nā Man Kā na Fīhā Mina A l-Mu'uminī na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 35).
051.035 Then we brought forth such believers as were there.
فَأَخْ رَ جْ نَا مَن ْ كَا نَ فِيهَا مِنَ ا لْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Famā Wajad nā Fīhā Gh ay ra Bay tin Mina A l-Muslimī na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 36).
051.036 But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah).
فَمَا وَجَدْ نَا فِيهَا غَ يْ رَ بَيْ تٍ مِنَ ا لْمُسْلِمِينَ
Wa Tara knā Fīhā 'Āyatan Lilladh ī na Yakh āfū na A l-`Adh ā ba A l-'Alī ma (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 37).
051.037 And We left behind therein a portent for those who fear a painful doom.
وَتَرَ كْنَا فِيهَا آيَة ً لِلَّذِي نَ يَخَ افُو نَ ا لْعَذَا بَ ا لأَلِيمَ
Wa Fī Mūsá 'Idh 'Arsalnā hu 'Ilá Fir `aw na Bisulţ ā nin Mubī nin (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 38).
051.038 And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant,
وَفِي مُوسَى إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا هُ إِلَى فِر ْعَوْ نَ بِسُلْطَ ا نٍ مُبِينٍ
Fatawallá Biru knihi Wa Q ā la Sāĥir un 'Aw Maj nū nun (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 39).
051.039 But he withdrew (confiding) in his might, and said: A wizard or a madman.
فَتَوَلَّى بِرُكْنِهِ وَقَ ا لَ سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْ نُونٌ
Fa'akh adh nā hu Wa Junūdahu Fanabadh nāhum Fī A l-Yamm i Wa Huwa Mulī mun (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 40).
051.040 So We seized him and his hosts and flung them in the sea, for he was reprobate.
فَأَخَ ذْنَا هُ وَجُنُودَهُ فَنَبَذْنَاهُمْ فِي ا لْيَمّ ِ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ
Wa Fī `Ā din 'Idh 'Arsalnā `Alayhimu A r-R ī ĥa A l-`Aq ī ma (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 41).
051.041 And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them.
وَفِي عَا دٍ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ ا ل رِّي حَ ا لْعَقِ يمَ
Mā Tadh aru Min Sh ay 'in 'Atat `Alay hi 'Illā Ja`alat/hu Kālrra mī mi (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 42).
051.042 It spared naught that it reached, but made it (all) as dust.
مَا تَذَرُ مِن ْ شَيْ ءٍ أَتَتْ عَلَيْ هِ إِلاَّ جَعَلَتْهُ كَال رَّ مِيمِ
Wa Fī Th amū da 'Idh Q ī la Lahum Tamatta`ū Ĥattá Ĥī nin (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 43).
051.043 And in (the tribe of) Thamud (there is a portent) when it was told them: Take your ease awhile.
وَفِي ثَمُو دَ إِذْ قِ ي لَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُوا حَتَّى حِينٍ
Fa`atawā `An 'Am r i Ra bbihim Fa'akh adh at/humu A ş -Ş ā`iq atu Wa Hum Yan žurū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 44).
051.044 But they rebelled against their Lord's decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed;
فَعَتَوْا عَن ْ أَمْرِ رَ بِّهِمْ فَأَخَ ذَتْهُمُ ا ل صَّ اعِقَ ةُ وَهُمْ يَن ظُ رُونَ
Famā A staţ ā`ū Min Q iyā min Wa Mā Kānū Mun taş ir ī na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 45).
051.045 And they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves.
فَمَا ا سْتَطَ اعُوا مِن ْ قِ يَا مٍ وَمَا كَانُوا مُن تَصِ رِ ينَ
Wa Q aw ma Nūĥin Min Q ab lu ۖ 'Inn ahum Kānū Q awmāan Fāsiq ī na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 46).
051.046 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk.
وَقَ وْ مَ نُو حٍ مِن ْ قَ بْ لُ ۖ إِنَّ هُمْ كَانُوا قَ وْماً فَاسِقِ ينَ
Wa A s-Samā 'a Banaynāhā Bi'ayy din Wa 'Inn ā Lamūsi`ū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 47).
051.047 We have built the heaven with might, and We it is Who make the vast extent (thereof).
وَالسَّمَا ءَ بَنَيْنَاهَا بِأَيْيدٍ وَإِنَّ ا لَمُوسِعُونَ
Wa A l-'Arđa Fara sh nāhā Fani`ma A l-Māhidū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 48).
051.048 And the earth have We laid out, how gracious is the Spreader (thereof)!
وَالأَرْضَ فَرَ شْنَاهَا فَنِعْمَ ا لْمَاهِدُونَ
Wa Min Kulli Sh ay 'in Kh alaq nā Zawjay ni La`allakum Tadh akkarū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 49).
051.049 And all things We have created by pairs, that haply ye may reflect.
وَمِن ْ كُلِّ شَيْ ءٍ خَ لَقْ نَا زَوْجَيْ نِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ
Fafir rū 'Ilá A ll āhi ۖ 'Inn ī Lakum Minhu Nadh ī r un Mubī nun (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 50).
051.050 Therefor flee unto Allah; lo! I am a plain warner unto you from him.
فَفِر ُّو ا إِلَى ا للَّ هِ ۖ إِنِّ ي لَكُمْ مِنْ هُ نَذِي رٌ مُبِينٌ
Wa Lā Taj `alū Ma`a A ll āhi 'Ilahāan 'Ākh ara ۖ 'Inn ī Lakum Minhu Nadh ī r un Mubī nun (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 51).
051.051 And set not any other god along with Allah; lo! I am a plain warner unto you from Him.
وَلاَ تَجْ عَلُوا مَعَ ا للَّ هِ إِلَهاً آخَ رَ ۖ إِنِّ ي لَكُمْ مِنْ هُ نَذِي رٌ مُبِينٌ
Kadh ālika Mā 'Atá A l-Ladh ī na Min Q ab lihim Min Ra sū lin 'Illā Q ālū Sāĥir un 'Aw Maj nū nun (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 52).
051.052 Even so there came no messenger unto those before them but they said: A wizard or a madman!
كَذَلِكَ مَا أَتَى ا لَّذِي نَ مِن ْ قَ بْ لِهِمْ مِن ْ رَ سُو لٍ إِلاَّ قَ الُوا سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْ نُونٌ
'Atawāş awā Bihi ۚ Bal Hum Q aw mun Ţ āgh ū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 53).
051.053 Have they handed down (the saying) as an heirloom one unto another ? Nay, but they are froward folk.
أَتَوَاصَ وْا بِهِ ۚ بَلْ هُمْ قَ وْ مٌ طَ اغُ ونَ
Fatawalla `Anhum Famā 'An ta Bimalū min (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 54).
051.054 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad), for thou art in no wise blameworthy,
فَتَوَلَّ عَنْ هُمْ فَمَا أَنْ تَ بِمَلُومٍ
Wa Dh akkir Fa'inn a A dh -Dh ikrá Tan fa`u A l-Mu'uminī na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 55).
051.055 And warn, for warning profiteth believers.
وَذَكِّر ْ فَإِنّ َ ا ل ذِّكْرَ ى تَن فَعُ ا لْمُؤْمِنِينَ
Wa Mā Kh alaq tu A l-Jinn a Wa A l-'In sa 'Illā Liya`budū ni (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 56).
051.056 I created the jinn and humankind only that they might worship Me.
وَمَا خَ لَقْ تُ ا لْجِنّ َ وَا لإِن سَ إِلاَّ لِيَعْبُدُونِ
Mā 'Ur ī du Minhum Min R izq in Wa Mā 'Ur ī du 'An Yuţ `imū ni (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 57).
051.057 I seek no livelihood from them, nor do I ask that they should feed Me.
مَا أُر ِي دُ مِنْ هُمْ مِن ْ رِ زْق ٍ وَمَا أُر ِي دُ أَن ْ يُطْ عِمُونِ
'Inn a A ll āha Huwa A r-Ra zzā q u Dh ū A l-Q ūwati A l-Matī nu (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 58).
051.058 Lo! Allah! He it is that giveth livelihood, the Lord of unbreakable might.
إِنّ َ ا للَّ هَ هُوَ ا ل رَّ زَّا قُ ذُو ا لْقُ وَّةِ ا لْمَتِينُ
Fa'inn a Lilladh ī na Ž alamū Dh anūbāan Mith la Dh anū bi 'Aş ĥābihim Falā Yasta`jilū ni (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 59).
051.059 And lo! for those who (now) do wrong there is an evil day like unto the evil day (which came for) their likes (of old); so let them not ask Me to hasten on (that day).
فَإِنّ َ لِلَّذِي نَ ظَ لَمُوا ذَنُوباً مِثْلَ ذَنُو بِ أَصْ حَابِهِمْ فَلاَ يَسْتَعْجِلُونِ
Faway lun Lilladh ī na Kafarū Min Yawmihi mu A l-Ladh ī Yū`adū na (Adh -Dh ār iyāt: 60).
051.060 And woe unto those who disbelieve, from (that) their day which they are promised.
فَوَيْ ل ٌ لِلَّذِي نَ كَفَرُوا مِن ْ يَوْمِهِمُ ا لَّذِي يُوعَدُونَ
