Wa An-Nāzi`āti Gharqāan  | By those angels who violently pull out the souls of the wrongdoers,[79.1] | وَالنَّازِعَاتِ غَرْقاً |
Wa An-Nāshiţāti Nashţāan  | and those who gently draw out the souls of the righteous,[79.2] | وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطاً |
Wa As-Sābiĥāti Sabĥāan  | and those who glide about swiftly through space,[79.3] | وَالسَّابِحَاتِ سَبْحاً |
Fālssābiqāti Sabqāan  | then speed headlong to carry out the commands of Allah,[79.4] | فَالسَّابِقَاتِ سَبْقاً |
Fālmudabbirāti 'Amrāan  | and those who regulate the affairs of the world![79.5] | فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِ أَمْراً |
Yawma Tarjufu Ar-Rājifahu  | The Day on which the quake shall cause a violent commotion,[79.6] | يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ |
Tatba`uhā Ar-Rādifahu  | which will be followed by another violent commotion,[79.7] | تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ |
Qulūbun Yawma'idhin Wājifahun  | and on that Day, hearts shall be pounding with terror[79.8] | قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ |
'Abşāruhā Khāshi`ahun  | and sight shall be downcast.[79.9] | أَبْصَارُهَا خَاشِعَةٌ |
Yaqūlūna 'A'innā Lamardūdūna Fī Al-Ĥāfirahi  | The unbelievers say: “Shall we really be restored to our former state (life),[79.10] | يَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِي الْحَافِرَةِ |
'A'idhā Kunnā `Ižāmāan Nakhirahan  | when we shall have become hollow bones?”[79.11] | أَئِذَا كُنَّا عِظَاماً نَخِرَةً |
Qālū Tilka 'Idhāan Karratun Khāsirahun  | They further say: “It would then be a fruitless restoration!”[79.12] | قَالُوا تِلْكَ إِذاً كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ |
Fa'innamā Hiya Zajratun Wāĥidahun  | They should know that it shall be only a single shout,[79.13] | فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ |
Fa'idhā Hum Bis-Sāhirahi  | and they will be back to life in open plain.[79.14] | فَإِذَا هُمْ بِالسَّاهِرَةِ |
Hal 'Tāka Ĥadīthu Mūsá  | Have you heard the story of Musa (Moses)?[79.15] | هَلْ أتَاكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَى |
'Idh Nādāhu Rabbuhu Bil-Wādi Al-Muqaddasi Ţūáan  | When His Rabb called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa,[79.16] | إِذْ نَادَاهُُرَبُّهُُبِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوىً |
Adh/hab 'Ilá Fir`awna 'Innahu Ţaghá  | and said: “Go to Fir'on (Pharaoh) for he has indeed transgressed all bounds,[79.17] | اذْهَبْ إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُُطَغَى |
Faqul Hal Laka 'Ilá 'An Tazakká  | and tell him, `Have you the desire to purify yourself?[79.18] | فَقُلْ هَلْ لَكَ إِلَى أَنْ تَزَكَّى |
Wa 'Ahdiyaka 'Ilá Rabbika Fatakhshá  | If so, I shall guide you towards your Rabb, so that you may fear Him.'"[79.19] | وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَى رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَى |
Fa'arāhu Al-'Āyata Al-Kubrá  | Then Musa showed Fir'on the mighty sign,[79.20] | فَأَرَاهُ الآيَةَ الْكُبْرَى |
Fakadhdhaba Wa `Aşá  | but he denied and disobeyed.[79.21] | فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَى |
Thumma 'Adbara Yas`á  | Then he quickly turned back,[79.22] | ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَى |
Faĥashara Fanādá  | assembled his people and made a proclamation;[79.23] | فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَى |
Faqāla 'Anā Rabbukumu Al-'A`lá  | “I am your lord, the most high."[79.24] | فَقَالَ أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الأَعْلَى |
Fa'akhadhahu Al-Lahu Nakāla Al-'Ākhirati Wa Al-'Ūlá  | Consequently, Allah seized him for punishment, both in the Hereafter and in this life.[79.25] | فَأَخَذَهُ اللَّهُ نَكَالَ الآخِرَةِ وَالأُولَى |
'Inna Fī Dhālika La`ibratan Liman Yakhshá  | Surely in this there is a lesson for the Godfearing.[79.26] | إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَعِبْرَة ً لِمَنْ يَخْشَى |
'A'antum 'Ashaddu Khalqāan 'Ami As-Samā'u Banāhā  | O mankind, is your creation harder than the heaven that He built?[79.27] | أَأَنْتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقاً أَمِ السَّمَاءُ بَنَاهَا |
Rafa`a Samkahā Fasawwāhā  | He raised its canopy and fashioned it to perfection,[79.28] | رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّاهَا |
Wa 'Aghţasha Laylahā Wa 'Akhraja Đuĥāhā  | He gave darkness to the night and brightness to the day.[79.29] | وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَاهَا |
Wa Al-'Arđa Ba`da Dhālika Daĥāhā  | After that He spread out the earth,[79.30] | وَالأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ دَحَاهَا |
'Akhraja Minhā Mā'ahā Wa Mar`āhā  | then from it He brought forth its water and its pasture,[79.31] | أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَاءَهَا وَمَرْعَاهَا |
Wa Al-Jibāla 'Arsāhā  | set its mountains,[79.32] | وَالْجِبَالَ أَرْسَاهَا |
Matā`āan Lakum Wa Li'an`āmikum  | and made them beneficial for you and your cattle.[79.33] | مَتَاعاً لَكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ |
Fa'idhā Jā'ati Aţ-Ţāmmatu Al-Kubrá  | When the great disaster will strike,[79.34] | فَإِذَا جَاءَتِ الطَّامَّةُ الْكُبْرَى |
Yawma Yatadhakkaru Al-'Insānu Mā Sa`á  | the Day when man will call to mind all that he had striven for.[79.35] | يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ الإِنسَانُ مَا سَعَى |
Wa Burrizati Al-Jaĥīmu Liman Yará  | When hell shall be placed in full view of all,[79.36] | وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِمَنْ يَرَى |
Fa'ammā Man Ţaghá  | then he who had rebelled[79.37] | فَأَمَّا مَنْ طَغَى |
Wa 'Āthara Al-Ĥayāata Ad-Dunyā  | and preferred the life of this world[79.38] | وَآثَرَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا |
Fa'inna Al-Jaĥīma Hiya Al-Ma'wá  | shall have his abode in hell.[79.39] | فَإِنَّ الْجَحِيمَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَى |
Wa 'Ammā Man Khāfa Maqāma Rabbihi Wa Nahá An-Nafsa `Ani Al-Hawá  | But he who had feared standing before his Rabb and curbed his evil desires[79.40] | وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَى |
Fa'inna Al-Jannata Hiya Al-Ma'wá  | shall have his home in paradise.[79.41] | فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَى |
Yas'alūnaka `Ani As-Sā`ati 'Ayyāna Mursāhā  | They ask you about the hour: “When will it come?”[79.42] | يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَا |
Fīma 'Anta Min Dhikrāhā  | But it is not for you to know or tell its timing.[79.43] | فِيمَ أَنْتَ مِنْ ذِكْرَاهَا |
'Ilá Rabbika Muntahāhā  | Only your Rabb knows when it will come.[79.44] | إِلَى رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَاهَا |
'Innamā 'Anta Mundhiru Man Yakhshāhā  | You are but a Warner to him who fears it.[79.45] | إِنَّمَا أَنْتَ مُنذِرُمَنْ يَخْشَاهَا |
Ka'annahum Yawma Yarawnahā Lam Yalbathū 'Illā `Ashīyatan 'Aw Đuĥāhā  | On that Day when they shall see it, they shall feel as if they had stayed in this world only one evening or one morning.[79.46] | كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوا إِلاَّ عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَاهَا |
