| `Amma Yatasā'alūna | About what are they asking?[78.1] | عَمَّ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ |
| `Ani An-Naba'i Al-`Ažīmi | About the mighty event[78.2] | عَنِ النَّبَإِ الْعَظِيمِ |
| Al-Ladhī Hum Fīhi Mukhtalifūna | - the theme of their disputes.[78.3] | الَّذِي هُمْ فِيهِِ مُخْتَلِفُونَ |
| Kallā Saya`lamūna | Very soon they shall come to know;[78.4] | كَلاَّ سَيَعْلَمُونَ |
| Thumma Kallā Saya`lamūna | We repeat, very soon they shall come to know.[78.5] | ثُمَّ كَلاَّ سَيَعْلَمُونَ |
| 'Alam Naj`ali Al-'Arđa Mihādāan | Is it not true that We have spread the earth like a bed,[78.6] | أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الأَرْضَ مِهَاداً |
| Wa Al-Jibāla 'Awtādāan | and the mountains as pegs,[78.7] | وَالْجِبَالَ أَوْتَاداً |
| Wa Khalaqnākum 'Azwājāan | created you in pairs,[78.8] | وَخَلَقْنَاكُمْ أَزْوَاجاً |
| Wa Ja`alnā Nawmakum Subātāan | provided you rest in sleep,[78.9] | وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتاً |
| Wa Ja`alnā Al-Layla Libāsāan | made the night a mantle,[78.10] | وَجَعَلْنَا اللَّيْلَ لِبَاساً |
| Wa Ja`alnā An-Nahāra Ma`āshāan | made the day to work for earning your livelihood,[78.11] | وَجَعَلْنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشاً |
| Wa Banaynā Fawqakum Sab`āan Shidādāan | built above you seven firmaments,[78.12] | وَبَنَيْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعاً شِدَاداً |
| Wa Ja`alnā Sirājāan Wa Hhājāan | placed therein a shining lamp,[78.13] | وَجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجاً وَهَّاجاً |
| Wa 'Anzalnā Mina Al-Mu`şirāti Mā'an Thajjājāan | sent down abundant water from the clouds,[78.14] | وَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ الْمُعْصِرَاتِ مَاءً ثَجَّاجاً |
| Linukhrija Bihi Ĥabbāan Wa Nabātāan | bringing forth grain, vegetation[78.15] | لِنُخْرِجَ بِهِِ حَبّاً وَنَبَاتاً |
| Wa Jannātin 'Alfāfāan | and gardens of luxurious growth?[78.16] | وَجَنَّاتٍ أَلْفَافاً |
| 'Inna Yawma Al-Faşli Kāna Mīqātāan | The Day of decision is already fixed.[78.17] | إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِيقَاتاً |
| Yawma Yunfakhu Fī Aş-Şūri Fata'tūna 'Afwājāan | On that Day, the Trumpet shall be sounded and you shall come forth in multitude.[78.18] | يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِي الصُّورِ فَتَأْتُونَ أَفْوَاجاً |
| Wa Futiĥati As-Samā'u Fakānat 'Abwābāan | The sky shall be opened as if there were doors.[78.19] | وَفُتِحَتِ السَّمَاءُ فَكَانَتْ أَبْوَاباً |
| Wa Suyyirati Al-Jibālu Fakānat Sarābāan | The mountains shall vanish as if they were a mirage.[78.20] | وَسُيِّرَتِ الْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَاباً |
| 'Inna Jahannama Kānat Mirşādāan | For sure, the hell shall lie in ambush,[78.21] | إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَاداً |
| Lilţţāghīna Ma'ābāan | to become a home for the transgressors.[78.22] | لِلْطَّاغِينَ مَآباً |
| Lābithīna Fīhā 'Aĥqābāan | There they shall live for ages,[78.23] | لاَبِثِينَ فِيهَا أَحْقَاباً |
| Lā Yadhūqūna Fīhā Bardāan Wa Lā Sharābāan | in it they shall taste neither refreshment nor drink,[78.24] | لاَ يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرْداً وَلاَ شَرَاباً |
| 'Illā Ĥamīmāan Wa Ghassāqāan | except scalding water and decaying filth:[78.25] | إِلاَّ حَمِيماً وَغَسَّاقاً |
| Jazā'an Wifāqāan | a fitting recompense for their deeds.[78.26] | جَزَا وِفَاقاً |
| 'Innahum Kānū Lā Yarjūna Ĥisābāan | For they never expected to be accountable,[78.27] | إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا لاَ يَرْجُونَ حِسَاباً |
| Wa Kadhdhabū Bi'āyātinā Kidhdhābāan | and wittingly rejected Our revelations.[78.28] | وَكَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا كِذَّاباً |
| Wa Kulla Shay'in 'Aĥşaynāhu Kitābāan | But We had recorded everything in a Book.[78.29] | وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَاهُُكِتَاباً |
| Fadhūqū Falan Nazīdakum 'Illā `Adhābāan | It will be said: “Taste the fruits of your deeds! You shall have nothing but increase in punishment."[78.30] | فَذُوقُوا فَلَنْ نَزِيدَكُمْ إِلاَّ عَذَاباً |
| 'Inna Lilmuttaqīna Mafāzāan | On that Day, the righteous will certainly achieve their Heart’s desires:[78.31] | إِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازاً |
| Ĥadā'iqa Wa 'A`nābāan | beautiful gardens, vineyards;[78.32] | حَدَائِقَ وَأَعْنَاباً |
| Wa Kawā`iba 'Atrābāan | and young women of their own age,[78.33] | وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتْرَاباً |
| Wa Ka'sāan Dihāqāan | and overflowing cups;[78.34] | وَكَأْساً دِهَاقاً |
| Lā Yasma`ūna Fīhā Laghwan Wa Lā Kidhdhābāan | they shall hear no vanity, nor any falsehood;[78.35] | لاَ يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْواً وَلاَ كِذَّاباً |
| Jazā'an Min Rabbika `Aţā'an Ĥisābāan | - a recompense from your Rabb and a gift beyond their account[78.36] | جَزَا مِنْ رَبِّكَ عَطَاءً حِسَاباً |
| Rabbi As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Mā Baynahumā Ar-Raĥmāni Lā Yamlikūna Minhu Khiţābāan | from the Compassionate, Who is the Rabb of the heavens, the earth and all that lies between them; before Whom no one shall be able to speak.[78.37] | رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الرَّحْمَنِ لاَ يَمْلِكُونَ مِنْهُ خِطَاباً |
| Yawma Yaqūmu Ar-Rūĥu Wa Al-Malā'ikatu Şaffāan Lā Yatakallamūna 'Illā Man 'Adhina Lahu Ar-Raĥmānu Wa Qāla Şawābāan | On that Day, the Spirit (Gabriel) and the angels shall stand in their ranks; none shall speak except the one to whom the Compassionate (Allah) shall grant permission to speak, and he will speak straight to the point.[78.38] | يَوْمَ يَقُومُ الرُّوحُ وَالْمَلاَئِكَةُ صَفّاً لاَ يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلاَّ مَنْ أَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمَنُ وَقَالَ صَوَاباً |
| Dhālika Al-Yawmu Al-Ĥaqqu Faman Shā'a Attakhadha 'Ilá Rabbihi Ma'ābāan | That Day is a sure reality. Let him who desires, seek a way back to his Rabb.[78.39] | ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمُ الْحَقُّ فَمَنْ شَاءَ اتَّخَذَ إِلَى رَبِّهِِ مَآباً |
| 'Innā 'Andharnākum `Adhābāan Qarībāan Yawma Yanžuru Al-Mar'u Mā Qaddamat Yadāhu Wa Yaqūlu Al-Kāfiru Yā Laytanī Kuntu Turābāan | Indeed We have forewarned you of an imminent punishment which lies close-at-hand, on the Day when man shall see what his hands have sent forth and the unbeliever will cry: “I wish! I could remain merely dust."[78.40] | إِنَّا أَنذَرْنَاكُمْ عَذَاباً قَرِيباً يَوْمَ يَنظُرُ الْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ يَدَاهُُوَيَقُولُ الْكَافِرُيَالَيْتَنِي كُنتُ تُرَاباً |
