Lā 'Uqsimu Biyawmi Al-Qiyāmahi  | I swear by the Day of Resurrection,[75.1] | لاَ أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ |
Wa Lā 'Uqsimu Bin-Nafsi Al-Lawwāmahi  | and I swear by the self reproaching soul![75.2] | وَلاَ أُقْسِمُ بِالنَّفْسِ اللَّوَّامَةِ |
'Ayaĥsabu Al-'Insānu 'Allan Najma`a `Ižāmahu  | Does man think that We shall not be able to put his bones together?[75.3] | أَيَحْسَبُ الإِنسَانُ أَلَّنْ نَجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُ |
Balá Qādirīna `Alá 'An Nusawwiya Banānahu  | Why not? We are able to put together, in perfect order, the very tips of his fingers.[75.4] | بَلَى قَادِرِينَ عَلَى أَنْ نُسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُ |
Bal Yurīdu Al-'Insānu Liyafjura 'Amāmahu  | But man wishes to keep on doing evil in the future as well.[75.5] | بَلْ يُرِيدُ الإِنسَانُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُ |
Yas'alu 'Ayyāna Yawmu Al-Qiyāmahi  | He questions: “When will this Day of Resurrection be?”[75.6] | يَسْأَلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ |
Fa'idhā Bariqa Al-Başaru  | Well, it will come when the sight shall be dazed,[75.7] | فَإِذَا بَرِقَ الْبَصَرُ |
Wa Khasafa Al-Qamaru  | the moon will be eclipsed,[75.8] | وَخَسَفَ الْقَمَرُ |
Wa Jumi`a Ash-Shamsu Wa Al-Qamaru  | and the sun and the moon will be brought together[75.9] | وَجُمِعَ الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ |
Yaqūlu Al-'Insānu Yawma'idhin 'Ayna Al-Mafarru  | - on that Day man will ask: “Is there any way to escape?”[75.10] | يَقُولُ الإِنسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ الْمَفَرُّ |
Kallā Lā Wazara  | Nay! There will be no refuge.[75.11] | كَلاَّ لاَ وَزَرَ |
'Ilá Rabbika Yawma'idhin Al-Mustaqarru  | On that Day, the refuge will only be towards your Rabb.[75.12] | إِلَى رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمُسْتَقَرُّ |
Yunabba'u Al-'Insānu Yawma'idhin Bimā Qaddama Wa 'Akhkhara  | On that Day man shall be told about all his deeds, from the first to the last.[75.13] | يُنَبَّأُ الإِنسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ |
Bali Al-'Insānu `Alá Nafsihi Başīrahun  | Indeed, man shall bear witness against himself,[75.14] | بَلِ الإِنسَانُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِِ بَصِيرَةٌ |
Wa Law 'Alqá Ma`ādhīrahu  | even though he shall plead with excuses.[75.15] | وَلَوْ أَلْقَى مَعَاذِيرَهُ |
Lā Tuĥarrik Bihi Lisānaka Lita`jala Bihi  | O Prophet, do not move your tongue too fast to memorize this revelation,[75.16] | لاَ تُحَرِّكْ بِهِِ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهِ |
'Inna `Alaynā Jam`ahu Wa Qur'ānahu  | It is Our responsibility to collect it in your memory, and make you recite it[75.17] | إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُُوَقُرْآنَهُ |
Fa'idhā Qara'nāhu Fa Attabi` Qur'ānahu  | and when it is recited, to make you follow it,[75.18] | فَإِذَا قَرَأْنَاهُُفَاتَّبِعْ قُرْآنَهُ |
Thumma 'Inna `Alaynā Bayānahu  | and then it is Our responsibility to explain it.[75.19] | ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُ |
Kallā Bal Tuĥibbūna Al-`Ājilaha  | - Nay, the fact is that you people love this fleeting life[75.20] | كَلاَّ بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَ |
Wa Tadharūna Al-'Ākhiraha  | and are heedless of the Hereafter.[75.21] | وَتَذَرُونَ الآخِرَةَ |
Wujūhun Yawma'idhin Nāđirahun  | On that Day, some faces shall be bright,[75.22] | وُجُوه ٌٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاضِرَةٌ |
'Ilá Rabbihā Nāžirahun  | looking towards their Rabb.[75.23] | إِلَى رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ |
Wa Wujūhun Yawma'idhin Bāsirahun  | And on that Day some faces shall be gloomy,[75.24] | وَوُجُوه ٌٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَاسِرَةٌ |
Tažunnu 'An Yuf`ala Bihā Fāqirahun  | thinking that some backbreaking calamity is about to be inflicted on them.[75.25] | تَظُنُّ أَنْ يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ |
Kallā 'Idhā Balaghati At-Tarāqī  | Nay, when a man’s soul is about to leave and reaches to the throat,[75.26] | كَلاَّ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِي |
Wa Qīla Man Rāqin  | and those around him cry: “Is there any enchanter to help?"[75.27] | وَقِيلَ مَنْ رَاقٍ |
Wa Žanna 'Annahu Al-Firāqu  | Then man will conclude that it was the time of departure from this world.[75.28] | وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ الْفِرَاقُ |
Wa Altaffati As-Sāqu Bis-Sāqi  | while one leg will twist around the other leg (agony will heap on agony);[75.29] | وَالْتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ |
'Ilá Rabbika Yawma'idhin Al-Masāqu  | that will be the Day of driving towards your Rabb.[75.30] | إِلَى رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمَسَاقُ |
Falā Şaddaqa Wa Lā Şallá  | But in this life he neither believed, nor offered Salah (prayed);[75.31] | فَلاَ صَدَّقَ وَلاَ صَلَّى |
Wa Lakin Kadhdhaba Wa Tawallá  | but on the contrary he denied the truth and turned away.[75.32] | وَلَكِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّى |
Thumma Dhahaba 'Ilá 'Ahlihi Yatamaţţá  | Then he went to his kinfolk elated with pride.[75.33] | ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِِ يَتَمَطَّى |
'Awlá Laka Fa'awlá  | Woe to you, O man! Woe to you.[75.34] | أَوْلَى لَكَ فَأَوْلَى |
Thumma 'Awlá Laka Fa'awlá  | Again woe to you, O man! Woe to you.[75.35] | ثُمَّ أَوْلَى لَكَ فَأَوْلَى |
'Ayaĥsabu Al-'Insānu 'An Yutraka Sudáan  | Does man think that he will be left to wander around without any purpose?[75.36] | أَيَحْسَبُ الإِنسَانُ أَنْ يُتْرَكَ سُدىً |
'Alam Yaku Nuţfatan Min Manīyin Yumná  | Was he not once a drop of emitted semen?[75.37] | أَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِنْ مَنِيٍّ يُمْنَى |
Thumma Kāna `Alaqatan Fakhalaqa Fasawwá  | Then he became a leechlike mass, then Allah created him and fashioned him in due proportion,[75.38] | ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّى |
Faja`ala Minhu Az-Zawjayni Adh-Dhakara Wa Al-'Unthá  | and made him either of the two sexes, male and female.[75.39] | فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالأُنثَى |
'Alaysa Dhālika Biqādirin `Alá 'An Yuĥyiya Al-Mawtá  | Has He not then the power to bring the dead to life?[75.40] | أَلَيْسَ ذَلِكَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلَى أَنْ يُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتَى |
