71) Sūrat Nūĥ | Printed format | 71) سُورَة نُوح |
| 'Innā 'Arsalnā Nūĥāan 'Ilá Qawmihi 'An 'Andhir Qawmaka Min Qabli 'An Ya'tiyahum `Adhābun 'Alīmun | We sent Nüh (Noah) to his people, saying: “Give warning to your people before there comes to them a painful punishment."[71.1] | إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحاً إِلَى قَوْمِهِ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ |
| Qāla Yā Qawmi 'Innī Lakum Nadhīrun Mubīnun | He said: “O my People! I am sent towards you as a plain Warner.[71.2] | قَالَ يَاقَوْمِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ |
| 'Ani A`budū Al-Laha Wa Attaqūhu Wa 'Aţī`ūni | Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me.[71.3] | أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُُوَأَطِيعُونِ |
| Yaghfir Lakum Min Dhunūbikum Wa Yu'uakhkhirkum 'Ilá 'Ajalin Musammáan 'Inna 'Ajala Al-Lahi 'Idhā Jā'a Lā Yu'uakhkharu Law Kuntum Ta`lamūna | If you will do so, He will forgive you your sins and give you respite for an appointed term. The fact is that when the term given by Allah arrives, it cannot be deferred. If you could understand!”[71.4] | يَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ مِنْ ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَى أَجَلٍ مُسَمّىً إِنَّ أَجَلَ اللَّهِ إِذَا جَاءَ لاَ يُؤَخَّرُ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ |
| Qāla Rabbi 'Innī Da`awtu Qawmī Laylāan Wa Nahārāan | After exhausting all his efforts Nüh said: “O Rabb! I have pleaded with my people night and day,[71.5] | قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِي لَيْلاً وَنَهَاراً |
| Falam Yazid/hum Du`ā'ī 'Illā Firārāan | but my plea has only added to their aversion.[71.6] | فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَائِي إِلاَّ فِرَاراً |
| Wa 'Innī Kullamā Da`awtuhum Litaghfira Lahum Ja`alū 'Aşābi`ahum Fī 'Ādhānihim Wa Astaghshaw Thiyābahum Wa 'Aşarrū Wa Astakbarū Astikbārāan | Each time I called on them to seek Your pardon, they thrust their fingers in their ears and drew their cloaks over their heads, persisting in sin and puffing themselves up with insolent pride.[71.7] | وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوا أَصَابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَاسْتَغْشَوْا ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا اسْتِكْبَاراً |
| Thumma 'Innī Da`awtuhum Jihārāan | I have called them aloud,[71.8] | ثُمَّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَاراً |
| Thumma 'Innī 'A`lantu Lahum Wa 'Asrartu Lahum 'Isrārāan | appealed them openly in public and secretly in private,[71.9] | ثُمَّ إِنِّي أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَاراً |
| Faqultu Astaghfirū Rabbakum 'Innahu Kāna Ghaffārāan | saying: “Seek forgiveness of your Rabb, He is ever ready to forgive you.[71.10] | فَقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُُكَانَ غَفَّاراً |
| Yursili As-Samā'a `Alaykum Midrārāan | He will send abundant rain for you from heaven,[71.11] | يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِدْرَاراً |
| Wa Yumdidkum Bi'amwālin Wa Banīna Wa Yaj`al Lakum Jannātin Wa Yaj`al Lakum 'Anhārāan | help you with wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and the flowing rivers.[71.12] | وَيُمْدِدْكُمْ بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَلْ لَكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ وَيَجْعَلْ لَكُمْ أَنْهَاراً |
| Mā Lakum Lā Tarjūna Lillahi Waqārāan | What is the matter with you that you do not regard the greatness of Allah[71.13] | مَا لَكُمْ لاَ تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَاراً |
| Wa Qad Khalaqakum 'Aţwārāan | when He has created you in gradual stages?[71.14] | وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَاراً |
| 'Alam Taraw Kayfa Khalaqa Al-Lahu Sab`a Samāwātin Ţibāqāan | Can you not see how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other,[71.15] | أَلَمْ تَرَوْا كَيْفَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ طِبَاقاً |
| Wa Ja`ala Al-Qamara Fīhinna Nūrāan Wa Ja`ala Ash-Shamsa Sirājāan | placing in them the moon as a light and the sun as a glorious lamp?[71.16] | وَجَعَلَ الْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُوراً وَجَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ سِرَاجاً |
| Wa Allāhu 'Anbatakum Mina Al-'Arđi Nabātāan | Allah has caused you to grow as a growth from the earth.[71.17] | وَاللَّهُ أَنْبَتَكُمْ مِنَ الأَرْضِ نَبَاتاً |
| Thumma Yu`īdukum Fīhā Wa Yukhrijukum 'Ikhrājāan | He will return you to the same earth and then raise you back to life again on the Day of Resurrection?[71.18] | ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجاً |
| Wa Allāhu Ja`ala Lakumu Al-'Arđa Bisāţāan | Allah has made the earth for you as a wide expanse[71.19] | وَاللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الأَرْضَ بِسَاطاً |
| Litaslukū Minhā Subulāan Fijājāan | so that you may walk in its spacious paths."[71.20] | لِتَسْلُكُوا مِنْهَا سُبُلاً فِجَاجاً |
| Qāla Nūĥun Rabbi 'Innahum `Aşawnī Wa Attaba`ū Man Lam Yazid/hu Māluhu Wa Waladuhu 'Illā Khasārāan | Finally, Nüh (Noah) submitted: “O Rabb! My people have disobeyed me, and followed those chiefs whose wealth and children have added to them nothing but loss.[71.21] | قَالَ نُوح ٌ رَبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِي وَاتَّبَعُوا مَنْ لَمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُُوَوَلَدُهُ~ُ إِلاَّ خَسَاراً |
| Wa Makarū Makrāan Kubbārāan | They have devised an outrageous plot,[71.22] | وَمَكَرُوا مَكْراً كُبَّاراً |
| Wa Qālū Lā Tadharunna 'Ālihatakum Wa Lā Tadharunna Waddāan Wa Lā Suwā`āan Wa Lā Yaghūtha Wa Ya`ūqa Wa Nasrāan | and said to each other: 'Do not leave your gods; especially Wadd, Suwa, Yaghüs, Yaüq and Nasr (the names of their idols).'[71.23] | وَقَالُوا لاَ تَذَرُنَّ آلِهَتَكُمْ وَلاَ تَذَرُنَّ وَدّاً وَلاَ سُوَاعاً وَلاَ يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْراً |
| Wa Qad 'Ađallū Kathīrāan Wa Lā Tazidi Až-Žālimīna 'Illā Đalālāan | They have already misled many, so O Rabb, do not increase the wrongdoers in anything but deviation."[71.24] | وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا كَثِيراً وَلاَ تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلاَّ ضَلاَلاً |
| Mimmā Khaţī'ātihim 'Ughriqū Fa'udkhilū Nārāan Falam Yajidū Lahum Min Dūni Al-Lahi 'Anşārāan | Because of their wrong doings they were drowned in the great flood and made to enter the fire. They found no one besides Allah to help them.[71.25] | مِمَّا خَطِيئَاتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا فَأُدْخِلُوا نَاراً فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا لَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ أَنْصَاراً |
| Wa Qāla Nūĥun Rabbi Lā Tadhar `Alá Al-'Arđi Mina Al-Kāfirīna Dayyārāan | As Nüh had prayed: “O Rabb! Do not leave a single unbeliever on the surface of the earth.[71.26] | وَقَالَ نُوح ٌ رَبِّ لاَ تَذَرْ عَلَى الأَرْضِ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ دَيَّاراً |
| 'Innaka 'In Tadharhum Yuđillū `Ibādaka Wa Lā Yalidū 'Illā Fājirāan Kaffārāan | For if You spare any of them, they will mislead your servants and beget none but wicked unbelievers.[71.27] | إِنَّكَ إِنْ تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا عِبَادَكَ وَلاَ يَلِدُوا إِلاَّ فَاجِراً كَفَّاراً |
| Rabbi Aghfir Lī Wa Liwālidayya Wa Liman Dakhala Baytiya Mu'umināan Wa Lilmu'uminīna Wa Al-Mu'umināti Wa Lā Tazidi Až-Žālimīna 'Illā Tabārāan | O Rabb! Forgive me, my parents and every true believer who seeks refuge in my house, and all believing men and believing women. As to the wrongdoers, grant them increase in nothing but destruction."[71.28] | رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِمَنْ دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِناً وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَلاَ تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلاَّ تَبَاراً |
