58) Sūrat Al-Mujādilh | Printed format | 58) سُورَة المُجَادِله |
| Qad Sami`a Al-Lahu Qawla Allatī Tujādiluka Fī Zawjihā Wa Tashtakī 'Ilá Al-Lahi Wa Allāhu Yasma`u Taĥāwurakumā 'Inna Al-Laha Samī`un Başīrun | Allah has indeed heard the words of the woman (Khawlah daughter of Tha‘labah, who had been divorced by calling her: ‘‘You are to me like my mother" which was an acceptable practice for divorce among pagan Arabs), who pleaded with you against her husband and made her complaint to Allah, and Allah has heard what you said to each other. Allah hears all and sees all.[58.1] | قَدْ سَمِعَ اللَّهُ قَوْلَ الَّتِي تُجَادِلُكَ فِي زَوْجِهَا وَتَشْتَكِي إِلَى اللَّهِ وَاللَّهُ يَسْمَعُ تَحَاوُرَكُمَا إِنَّ اللَّهَ سَمِيعٌ بَصِيرٌ |
| Al-Ladhīna Yužāhirūna Minkum Min Nisā'ihim Mā Hunna 'Ummahātihim 'In 'Ummahātuhum 'Illā Al-Lā'ī Waladnahum Wa 'Innahum Layaqūlūna Munkarāan Mina Al-Qawli Wa Zūrāan Wa 'Inna Al-Laha La`afūwun Ghafūrun | Those of you who divorce their wives by Zihمr (calling them to be like their mothers) should know that they are not their mothers. Their mothers are only those who gave birth to them. Surely the words they utter are absurd and false. Allah could punish them for this but He forgave them, surely Allah is All-Pardoning, All-Forgiving.[58.2] | الَّذِينَ يُظَاهِرُونَ مِنْكُمْ مِنْ نِسَائِهِمْ مَا هُنَّ أُمَّهَاتِهِمْ إِنْ أُمَّهَاتُهُمْ إِلاَّ اللاَّئِي وَلَدْنَهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَقُولُونَ مُنْكَراً مِنَ الْقَوْلِ وَزُوراً وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَعَفُوٌّ غَفُورٌ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Yužāhirūna Min Nisā'ihim Thumma Ya`ūdūna Limā Qālū Fataĥrīru Raqabatin Min Qabli 'An Yatamāssā Dhālikum Tū`ažūna Bihi Wa Allāhu Bimā Ta`malūna Khabīrun | Those who divorce their wives by Zihمr, then wish to retract the words they uttered, shall have to free a slave before they touch each other. This is enjoined as a penalty for doing so. Allah is well-aware of all your actions.[58.3] | وَالَّذِينَ يُظَاهِرُونَ مِنْ نِسَائِهِمْ ثُمَّ يَعُودُونَ لِمَا قَالُوا فَتَحْرِيرُرَقَبَةٍ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَتَمَاسَّا ذَلِكُمْ تُوعَظُونَ بِهِِ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ |
| Faman Lam Yajid Faşiyāmu Shahrayni Mutatābi`ayni Min Qabli 'An Yatamāssā Faman Lam Yastaţi` Fa'iţ`āmu Sittīna Miskīnāan Dhālika Litu'uminū Bil-Lahi Wa Rasūlihi Wa Tilka Ĥudūdu Al-Lahi Wa Lilkāfirīna `Adhābun 'Alīmun | He that has no slave, shall fast two consecutive months before they touch each other. He that cannot fast, shall feed sixty poor people. This is enjoined so that you may have faith in Allah and His Rasool. These are the limits set by Allah, and the violators shall have a painful punishment.[58.4] | فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَصِيَامُ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَتَمَاسَّا فَمَنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَإِطْعَامُ سِتِّينَ مِسْكِيناً ذَلِكَ لِتُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِِ وَتِلْكَ حُدُودُ اللَّهِ وَلِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ |
| 'Inna Al-Ladhīna Yuĥāddūna Al-Laha Wa Rasūlahu Kubitū Kamā Kubita Al-Ladhīna Min Qablihim Wa Qad 'Anzalnā 'Āyātin Bayyinātin Wa Lilkāfirīna `Adhābun Muhīnun | Those who resist Allah and His Rasool, shall be humiliated as were those before them. We have sent down clear revelations; the disbelievers shall have a humiliating punishment.[58.5] | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُحَادُّونَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُُكُبِتُوا كَمَا كُبِتَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ وَقَدْ أَنْزَلْنَا آيَاتٍ بَيِّنَاتٍ وَلِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَابٌ مُهِينٌ |
| Yawma Yab`athuhumu Al-Lahu Jamī`āan Fayunabbi'uhum Bimā `Amilū 'Aĥşāhu Al-Lahu Wa Nasūhu Wa Allāhu `Alá Kulli Shay'in Shahīdun | On the Day of Judgment Allah will raise them all back to life, then inform them about what they have done. Allah has kept full record of their deeds even though they may have forgotten, for Allah is a witness over all things.[58.6] | يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُمُ اللَّهُ جَمِيعاً فَيُنَبِّئُهُمْ بِمَا عَمِلُوا أَحْصَاهُ اللَّهُ وَنَسُوهُُوَاللَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ |
| 'Alam Tará 'Anna Al-Laha Ya`lamu Mā Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Mā Fī Al-'Arđi Mā Yakūnu Min Najwá Thalāthatin 'Illā Huwa Rābi`uhum Wa Lā Khamsatin 'Illā Huwa Sādisuhum Wa Lā 'Adná Min Dhālika Wa Lā 'Akthara 'Illā Huwa Ma`ahum 'Ayna Mā Kānū Thumma Yunabbi'uhum Bimā `Amilū Yawma Al-Qiyāmati 'Inna Al-Laha Bikulli Shay'in `Alīmun | Are you not aware that Allah knows all that is in the heavens and in the earth? It cannot be that three persons converse in secret and He is not the fourth of them; or five persons converse in secret and He is not the sixth of them; whether fewer or more, wherever they may be, He is with them. Then on the Day of Resurrection He will inform them of what they have done, surely Allah has knowledge of all things.[58.7] | أَلَمْ تَرَى أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ مَا يَكُونُ مِنْ نَجْوَى ثَلاَثَةٍ إِلاَّ هُوَ رَابِعُهُمْ وَلاَ خَمْسَةٍ إِلاَّ هُوَ سَادِسُهُمْ وَلاَ أَدْنَى مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَلاَ أَكْثَرَ إِلاَّ هُوَ مَعَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كَانُوا ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُهُمْ بِمَا عَمِلُوا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ |
| 'Alam Tará 'Ilá Al-Ladhīna Nuhū `Ani An-Najwá Thumma Ya`ūdūna Limā Nuhū `Anhu Wa Yatanājawna Bil-'Ithmi Wa Al-`Udwāni Wa Ma`şiyati Ar-Rasūli Wa 'Idhā Jā'ūka Ĥayyawka Bimā Lam Yuĥayyika Bihi Al-Lahu Wa Yaqūlūna Fī 'Anfusihim Lawlā Yu`adhdhibunā Al-Lahu Bimā Naqūlu Ĥasbuhum Jahannamu Yaşlawnahā Fabi'sa Al-Maşīru | Have you not seen those who, though forbidden to hold secret counsels, persistently do what was forbidden? They hold secret counsels among themselves for sin, hostility and disobedience to the Rasool. Yet when they come to you, they greet you in words which Allah does not greet you with, and say to themselves: “Why does Allah not punish us for what we say?” Hell is enough for them, they shall burn in its flames, what an evil destination![58.8] | أَلَمْ تَرَى إِلَى الَّذِينَ نُهُوا عَنِ النَّجْوَى ثُمَّ يَعُودُونَ لِمَا نُهُوا عَنْهُ وَيَتَنَاجَوْنَ بِالإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ وَمَعْصِيَةِ الرَّسُولِ وَإِذَا جَاءُوكَ حَيَّوْكَ بِمَا لَمْ يُحَيِّكَ بِهِ اللَّهُ وَيَقُولُونَ فِي أَنفُسِهِمْ لَوْلاَ يُعَذِّبُنَا اللَّهُ بِمَا نَقُولُ حَسْبُهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ يَصْلَوْنَهَا فَبِئْسَ الْمَصِيرُ |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'Idhā Tanājaytum Falā Tatanājaw Bil-'Ithmi Wa Al-`Udwāni Wa Ma`şiyati Ar-Rasūli Wa Tanājaw Bil-Birri Wa At-Taqwá Wa Attaqū Al-Laha Al-Ladhī 'Ilayhi Tuĥsharūna | O believers! When you confer together in private, do not talk about sin and hostility and disobedience to the Rasool; but to counsel about virtue and piety, and fear Allah, before whom you shall be brought together.[58.9] | يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا تَنَاجَيْتُمْ فَلاَ تَتَنَاجَوْا بِالإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ وَمَعْصِيَةِ الرَّسُولِ وَتَنَاجَوْا بِالْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ الَّذِي إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ |
| 'Innamā An-Najwá Mina Ash-Shayţāni Liyaĥzuna Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa Laysa Biđārrihim Shay'āan 'Illā Bi'idhni Al-Lahi Wa `Alá Al-Lahi Falyatawakkali Al-Mu'uminūna | Conspiring in secret is the work of shaitمn, who means to vex the believers; but he cannot harm them at all except as Allah permits; so in Allah let the believers put their trust.[58.10] | إِنَّمَا النَّجْوَى مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ لِيَحْزُنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَلَيْسَ بِضَارِّهِمْ شَيْئاً إِلاَّ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَعَلَى اللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'Idhā Qīla Lakum Tafassaĥū Fī Al-Majālisi Fāfsaĥū Yafsaĥi Al-Lahu Lakum Wa 'Idhā Qīla Anshuzū Fānshuzū Yarfa`i Al-Lahu Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Minkum Wa Al-Ladhīna 'Ūtū Al-`Ilma Darajātin Wa Allāhu Bimā Ta`malūna Khabīrun | O believers! When you are asked to make room in your meetings, make room, Allah will make room for you in the Hereafter. And if you are told to rise up, then rise up: Allah will raise to higher ranks those of you who have faith and knowledge. Allah is aware of all your actions.[58.11] | يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمْ تَفَسَّحُوا فِي الْمَجَالِسِ فَافْسَحُوا يَفْسَحِ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَإِذَا قِيلَ انشُزُوا فَانشُزُوا يَرْفَعِ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْكُمْ وَالَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ دَرَجَاتٍ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ |
| Yā 'Ayyuhā Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'Idhā Nājaytumu Ar-Rasūla Faqaddimū Bayna Yaday Najwākum Şadaqatan Dhālika Khayrun Lakum Wa 'Aţharu Fa'in Lam Tajidū Fa'inna Al-Laha Ghafūrun Raĥīmun | O believers! When you want to consult the Rasool in private, offer something in charity before your consultation, that is best and purest for you. But if you lack the means, know that Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.[58.12] | يَاأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا نَاجَيْتُمُ الرَّسُولَ فَقَدِّمُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ نَجْوَاكُمْ صَدَقَةً ذَلِكَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ وَأَطْهَرُ فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدُوا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ |
| 'A'ashfaqtum 'An Tuqaddimū Bayna Yaday Najwākum Şadaqātin Fa'idh Lam Taf`alū Wa Tāba Al-Lahu `Alaykum Fa'aqīmū Aş-Şalāata Wa 'Ātū Az-Zakāata Wa 'Aţī`ū Al-Laha Wa Rasūlahu Wa Allāhu Khabīrun Bimā Ta`malūna | Do you hesitate to give out in charity before your private consultation with him? If you cannot afford it - Allah will forgive you - so establish Salah and pay Zakah, and obey Allah and His Rasool. Allah is well aware of all your actions.[58.13] | أَأَشْفَقْتُمْ أَنْ تُقَدِّمُوا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ نَجْوَاكُمْ صَدَقَاتٍ فَإِذْ لَمْ تَفْعَلُوا وَتَابَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ فَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلاَةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَأَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُُوَاللَّهُ خَبِيرٌ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ |
| 'Alam Tará 'Ilá Al-Ladhīna Tawallaw Qawmāan Ghađiba Al-Lahu `Alayhim Mā Hum Minkum Wa Lā Minhum Wa Yaĥlifūna `Alá Al-Kadhibi Wa Hum Ya`lamūna | Have you not seen the ones who have befriended those people who are under the wrath of Allah? They are neither on your side nor yet on theirs and they knowingly swear to falsehood.[58.14] | أَلَمْ تَرَى إِلَى الَّذِينَ تَوَلَّوْا قَوْماً غَضِبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مَا هُمْ مِنْكُمْ وَلاَ مِنْهُمْ وَيَحْلِفُونَ عَلَى الْكَذِبِ وَهُمْ يَعْلَمُونَ |
| 'A`adda Al-Lahu Lahum `Adhābāan Shadīdāan 'Innahum Sā'a Mā Kānū Ya`malūna | Allah has prepared for them a severe punishment; evil indeed is what they are doing.[58.15] | أَعَدَّ اللَّهُ لَهُمْ عَذَاباً شَدِيداً إِنَّهُمْ سَاءَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ |
| Attakhadhū 'Aymānahum Junnatan Faşaddū `An Sabīli Al-Lahi Falahum `Adhābun Muhīnun | They use their oaths as shields, and debar others from the Way of Allah. They shall have a humiliating punishment.[58.16] | اتَّخَذُوا أَيْمَانَهُمْ جُنَّةً فَصَدُّوا عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُهِينٌ |
| Lan Tughniya `Anhum 'Amwāluhum Wa Lā 'Awlāduhum Mina Al-Lahi Shay'āan 'Ūlā'ika 'Aşĥābu An-Nāri Hum Fīhā Khālidūna | Neither their riches nor their sons shall avail them anything against Allah. They shall be the inmates of hell and live there forever.[58.17] | لَنْ تُغْنِيَ عَنْهُمْ أَمْوَالُهُمْ وَلاَ أَوْلاَدُهُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئاً أُوْلَائِكَ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ |
| Yawma Yab`athuhumu Al-Lahu Jamī`āan Fayaĥlifūna Lahu Kamā Yaĥlifūna Lakum Wa Yaĥsabūna 'Annahum `Alá Shay'in 'Alā 'Innahum Humu Al-Kādhibūna | On the Day when Allah will raise them all to life, they will swear to Him as they now swear to you, thinking that their oaths will help them. By no means! Surely they are the liars.[58.18] | يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُمُ اللَّهُ جَمِيعاً فَيَحْلِفُونَ لَهُُكَمَا يَحْلِفُونَ لَكُمْ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمْ عَلَى شَيْءٍ أَلاَ إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ الْكَاذِبُونَ |
| Astaĥwadha `Alayhimu Ash-Shayţānu Fa'ansāhum Dhikra Al-Lahi 'Ūlā'ika Ĥizbu Ash-Shayţāni 'Alā 'Inna Ĥizba Ash-Shayţāni Humu Al-Khāsirūna | Shaitمn has gained possession of them, and caused them to forget Allah’s warning. They are the party of shaitمn. Beware! Surely it is the party of shaitمn that shall be the loser.[58.19] | اسْتَحْوَذَ عَلَيْهِمُ الشَّيْطَانُ فَأَنسَاهُمْ ذِكْرَ اللَّهِ أُوْلَائِكَ حِزْبُ الشَّيْطَانِ أَلاَ إِنَّ حِزْبَ الشَّيْطَانِ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ |
| 'Inna Al-Ladhīna Yuĥāddūna Al-Laha Wa Rasūlahu 'Ūlā'ika Fī Al-'Adhallīna | Those who resist Allah and His Rasool will be among the most humiliated.[58.20] | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يُحَادُّونَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ~ُ أُوْلَائِكَ فِي الأَذَلِّينَ |
| Kataba Al-Lahu La'aghlibanna 'Anā Wa Rusulī 'Inna Al-Laha Qawīyun `Azīzun | Allah has decreed: “It is I and My Rasools who will most certainly prevail." Surely Allah is All-Powerful, All-Mighty.[58.21] | كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَأَغْلِبَنَّ أَنَا وَرُسُلِي إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَوِيٌّ عَزِيزٌ |
| Lā Tajidu Qawmāan Yu'uminūna Bil-Lahi Wa Al-Yawmi Al-'Ākhiri Yuwāddūna Man Ĥādda Al-Laha Wa Rasūlahu Wa Law Kānū 'Ābā'ahum 'Aw 'Abnā'ahum 'Aw 'Ikhwānahum 'Aw `Ashīratahum 'Ūlā'ika Kataba Fī Qulūbihimu Al-'Īmāna Wa 'Ayyadahum Birūĥin Minhu Wa Yudkhiluhum Jannātin Tajrī Min Taĥtihā Al-'Anhāru Khālidīna Fīhā Rađiya Al-Lahu `Anhum Wa Rađū `Anhu 'Ūlā'ika Ĥizbu Al-Lahi 'Alā 'Inna Ĥizba Al-Lahi Humu Al-Mufliĥūna | You will never find any people who believe in Allah and the last Day on friendly terms with those who oppose Allah and His Rasool, even though they be their fathers, their sons, their brothers or their relatives. It is they in whose hearts Allah has inscribed faith and has strengthened them with a spirit of His own. He will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, to live therein forever. Allah will be well pleased with them, and they will be well pleased with Him. They are the party of Allah. Beware! Surely it is the party of Allah that will be successful.[58.22] | لاَ تَجِدُ قَوْماً يُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ يُوَادُّونَ مَنْ حَادَّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُُوَلَوْ كَانُوا آبَاءَهُمْ أَوْ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ أَوْ إِخْوَانَهُمْ أَوْ عَشِيرَتَهُمْ أُوْلَائِكَ كَتَبَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ الإِيمَانَ وَأَيَّدَهُمْ بِرُوحٍ مِنْهُ وَيُدْخِلُهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ أُوْلَائِكَ حِزْبُ اللَّهِ أَلاَ إِنَّ حِزْبَ اللَّهِ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ |
