Wa A dh -Dh ār iyā ti Dh arwan By the dust scattering winds;[51.1] وَالذَّار ِيَا تِ ذَرْواً
Fālĥāmilā ti Wiq rāan then by the heavy laden clouds;[51.2] فَالْحَامِلاَتِ وِقْ راً
Fāljār iyā ti Yusrāan then by their swift gliding;[51.3] فَالْجَار ِيَا تِ يُسْراً
Fālmuqassimā ti 'Am rāan then by those who distribute the big affair (rain);[51.4] فَالْمُقَسِّمَا تِ أَمْراً
'Inn amā Tū`adū na Laşādiq un surely, that which you are being promised is true;[51.5] إِنَّ مَا تُوعَدُو نَ لَصَادِق ٌ
Wa 'Inn a A d-Dī na Lawāqi`un and surely, the Day of Judgment shall come to pass.[51.6] وَإِنّ َ ا ل دِّي نَ لَوَاقِعٌ
Wa A s-Samā 'i Dh ā ti A l-Ĥubuki By the sky full of orbits,[51.7] وَالسَّمَا ءِ ذَا تِ ا لْحُبُكِ
'Inn akum Lafī Qawlin Mukh talifin surely you contradict one another in what you say,[51.8] إِنَّ كُمْ لَفِي قَوْلٍ مُخْتَلِفٍ
Yu'ufaku `Anhu Man 'Ufika only the perverse persons turn away from the truth.[51.9] يُؤْفَكُ عَنْهُ مَنْ أُفِكَ
Qutila A l-Kh arrāşū na Woe to those who judge by conjecture,[51.10] قُتِلَ ا لْخَرَّاصُو نَ
Al-Ladh ī na Hum Fī Gh am ratin Sāhū na those who are engulfed in ignorance and heedlessness.[51.11] ا لَّذِي نَ هُمْ فِي غَمْرَةٍ سَاهُو نَ
Yas'alū na 'Ayyā na Yawmu A d-Dī ni They ask: “When will the Day of Judgment be?”[51.12] يَسْأَلُو نَ أَيَّا نَ يَوْمُ ا ل دِّي نِ
Yawma Hum `Alá A n -Nā r i Yuftanū na It will be the Day when they will be punished in the fire,[51.13] يَوْمَ هُمْ عَلَى ا ل نّ َا ر ِ يُفْتَنُو نَ
Dh ūqū Fitnatakum Hādh ā A l-Ladh ī Kun tum Bihi Tasta`jilū na and it will be said: “Taste your chastisement! This is what you were seeking to hasten."[51.14] ذُوقُوا فِتْنَتَكُمْ هَذَا ا لَّذِي كُن تُم ْ بِهِِ تَسْتَعْجِلُو نَ
'Inn a A l-Muttaqī na Fī Jann ā tin Wa `Uyū nin As to the righteous, they will be in the midst of gardens and springs,[51.15] إِنّ َ ا لْمُتَّقِي نَ فِي جَنّ َا تٍ وَعُيُو نٍ
'Ā kh idh ī na Mā 'Ā tāhum Rabbuhum 'Inn ahum Kānū Qab la Dh ālika Muĥsinī na joyfully receiving what their Rabb shall give them; for they were before that (during their life on earth) righteous people,[51.16] آخِذِي نَ مَا آتَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ إِنَّ هُمْ كَا نُوا قَبْ لَ ذَلِكَ مُحْسِنِي نَ
Kānū Qalīlāan Mina A l-Layli Mā Yahja`ū na They used to sleep but little in the night time,[51.17] كَانُوا قَلِيلاً مِنَ ا ل لَّيْلِ مَا يَهْجَعُو نَ
Wa Bil-'Asĥā r i Hum Yastagh firū na pray for forgiveness in the early morning,[51.18] وَبِالأَسْحَا ر ِ هُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُو نَ
Wa Fī 'Am wālihim Ĥaqqun Lilssā 'ili Wa A l-Maĥrū mi and share their wealth with the needy who asked for it, and those who did not ask.[51.19] وَفِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ حَقّ ٌ لِلسَّائِلِ وَالْمَحْرُو مِ
Wa Fī A l-'Arđi 'Ā yā tun Lilmūqinī na In the earth, there are signs for the firm believers,[51.20] وَفِي ا لأَرْضِ آيَا ت ٌ لِلْمُوقِنِي نَ
Wa Fī 'An fusikum 'Afalā Tub şirū na and also in your own selves; can you not see?[51.21] وَفِي أَن فُسِكُمْ أَفَلاَ تُبْ صِرُو نَ
Wa Fī A s-Samā 'i R izqukum Wa Mā Tū`adū na In heaven is your sustenance and all that you are promised.[51.22] وَفِي ا ل سَّمَا ءِ ر ِزْقُكُمْ وَمَا تُوعَدُو نَ
Fawarabbi A s-Samā 'i Wa A l-'Arđi 'Inn ahu Laĥaqqun Mith la Mā 'Ann akum Tan ţiqū na I swear by the Rabb of heaven and earth that this is true, as certain as you are speaking now![51.23] فَوَرَبِّ ا ل سَّمَا ءِ وَالأَرْضِ إِنَّ هُُلَحَقٌّ مِثْلَ مَا أَنَّ كُمْ تَن طِقُو نَ
Hal 'Atā ka Ĥadīth u Đayfi 'Ib rāhī ma A l-Mukramī na Have you heard the story of Ibrمhïm’s honored guests?[51.24] هَلْ أَتَا كَ حَدِي ثُ ضَيْفِ إِبْ رَاهِي مَ ا لْمُكْرَمِي نَ
'Idh Dakh alū `Alayhi Faqālū Salāmāan Qā la Salā mun Qawmun Mun karū na When they came to him and said: “Peace be upon you!” “Peace be upon you also!” he answered, and seeing that they were strangers,[51.25] إِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا سَلاَماً قَا لَ سَلاَمٌ قَوْمٌ مُن كَرُو نَ
Farāgh a 'Ilá 'Ahlihi Fajā 'a Bi`ij lin Samī nin he went quietly to his family, brought a roasted calf[51.26] فَرَا غَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِِ فَجَا ءَ بِعِجْ لٍ سَمِي نٍ
Faqarrabahu 'Ilayhim Qā la 'Alā Ta'kulū na and placed it before them saying: “Will you not eat?”[51.27] فَقَرَّبَهُ~ ُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَا لَ أَلاَ تَأْكُلُو نَ
Fa'awjasa Minhum Kh īfatan Qālū Lā Takh af Wa Bash sh arū hu Bigh ulā min `Alī min When he saw them not eating, he became afraid of them. They said: “Have no fear,” and they gave him good news of a son endowed with knowledge.[51.28] فَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةً قَالُ وا لاَ تَخَفْ وَبَشَّرُو هُُبِغُلاَمٍ عَلِي مٍ
Fa'aq balati A m ra'atuhu Fī Şarratin Faşakkat Waj hahā Wa Qālat `Ajū zun `Aqī mun Hearing this his wife came forward, with astonishment she smote her forehead and said: “A son to a barren old woman!”[51.29] فَأَقْ بَلَتِ ا مْرَأَتُهُُفِي صَرَّةٍ فَصَكَّتْ وَجْ هَهَا وَقَالَتْ عَجُو زٌ عَقِي مٌ
Qālū Kadh āliki Qā la Rabbuki 'Inn ahu Huwa A l-Ĥakī mu A l-`Alī mu They replied: “Thus has said your Rabb: surely He is the Wise, the Knowledgeable.”[51.30] قَالُوا كَذَلِكِ قَا لَ رَبُّكِ إِنَّ هُُهُوَ ا لْحَكِي مُ ا لْعَلِي مُ
Qā la Famā Kh aţ bukum 'Ayyuhā A l-Mursalū na Ibrمhïm (Abraham) asked: “O Divine Messengers, what is your errand?”[51.31] قَا لَ فَمَا خَطْ بُكُمْ أَيُّهَا ا لْمُرْسَلُو نَ
Qālū 'Inn ā 'Ursilnā 'Ilá Qawmin Muj r imī na They replied: “We have been sent to a guilty nation (people of Lot, who were homosexuals),[51.32] قَالُو ا إِنَّ ا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَى قَوْمٍ مُجْ ر ِمِي نَ
Linursila `Alayhim Ĥijāratan Min Ţī nin to shower upon them brimstone,[51.33] لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِن ْ طِي نٍ
Musawwamatan `In da Rabbika Lilmusr ifī na marked by your Rabb for the transgressors."[51.34] مُسَوَّمَةً عِنْ دَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُسْر ِفِي نَ
Fa'akh raj nā Man Kā na Fīhā Mina A l-Mu'uminī na Then We saved all those who were believers in the town[51.35] فَأَخْرَجْ نَا مَن ْ كَا نَ فِيهَا مِنَ ا لْمُؤْمِنِي نَ
Famā Wajad nā Fīhā Gh ayra Baytin Mina A l-Muslimī na - We found none but one household of true Muslims[51.36] فَمَا وَجَد ْنَا فِيهَا غَيْرَ بَيْتٍ مِنَ ا لْمُسْلِمِي نَ
Wa Taraknā Fīhā 'Ā yatan Lilladh ī na Yakh āfū na A l-`Adh ā ba A l-'Alī ma - We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment.[51.37] وَتَرَكْنَا فِيهَا آيَة ً لِلَّذِي نَ يَخَافُو نَ ا لْعَذَا بَ ا لأَلِي مَ
Wa Fī Mūsá 'Idh 'Arsalnā hu 'Ilá Fir `awna Bisulţā nin Mubī nin There is also a sign for you in the story of Musa (Moses): when We sent him to Fir'on (Pharaoh) with clear authority,[51.38] وَفِي مُوسَى إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا هُ~ ُ إِلَى فِرْعَوْنَ بِسُلْطَا نٍ مُبِي نٍ
Fatawallá Biruknihi Wa Qā la Sāĥir un 'Aw Maj nū nun but he turned his back along with his chiefs, saying: “He (Moses) is a sorcerer or a madman."[51.39] فَتَوَلَّى بِرُكْنِهِِ وَقَا لَ سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْ نُو نٌ
Fa'akh adh nā hu Wa Junūdahu Fanabadh nāhum Fī A l-Yamm i Wa Huwa Mulī mun Consequently, We seized him and his warriors, and cast them into the sea. Indeed he deserved much blame.[51.40] فَأَخَذْنَا هُُوَجُنُودَهُُفَنَبَذْنَاهُمْ فِي ا لْيَمّ ِ وَهُوَ مُلِي مٌ
Wa Fī `Ā din 'Idh 'Arsalnā `Alayhimu A r-R ī ĥa A l-`Aqī ma There is also a sign in the story of 'Ad: when We let loose on them a blighting wind[51.41] وَفِي عَا دٍ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ ا ل رِّي حَ ا لْعَقِي مَ
Mā Tadh aru Min Sh ay'in 'Atat `Alayhi 'Illā Ja`alat/hu Kālrramī mi which made rotten everything that it blew on.[51.42] مَا تَذَرُ مِن ْ شَيْءٍ أَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ إِلاَّ جَعَلَتْهُ كَا ل رَّمِي مِ
Wa Fī Th amū da 'Idh Qī la Lahum Tamatta`ū Ĥattá Ĥī nin Likewise the story of Thamüd, when it was said to them: “Enjoy yourselves for a while,”[51.43] وَفِي ثَمُو دَ إِذْ قِي لَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُوا حَتَّى حِي نٍ
Fa`ataw `An 'Am r i Rabbihim Fa'akh adh at/humu A ş-Şā`iqatu Wa Hum Yan žurū na but they disobeyed the commandment of their Rabb; consequently they were overtaken by the thunderbolt even while they were looking on.[51.44] فَعَتَوْا عَنْ أَمْر ِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ ا ل صَّاعِقَةُ وَهُمْ يَن ظُرُو نَ
Famā A staţā`ū Min Qiyā min Wa Mā Kānū Mun taşir ī na So neither they could stand up on their feet nor could they defend themselves.[51.45] فَمَا ا سْتَطَاعُوا مِن ْ قِيَا مٍ وَمَا كَا نُوا مُن تَصِر ِي نَ
Wa Qawma Nūĥin Min Qab lu 'Inn ahum Kānū Qawmāan Fāsiqī na And We destroyed the people of Nüh (Noah) before them because they too were transgressors.[51.46] وَقَوْمَ نُو حٍ مِن ْ قَبْ لُ إِنَّ هُمْ كَا نُوا قَوْماً فَا سِقِي نَ
Wa A s-Samā 'a Banaynāhā Bi'ayydin Wa 'Inn ā Lamūsi`ū na We have built the heavens with Our hands, for We have the power to do so.[51.47] وَالسَّمَا ءَ بَنَيْنَاهَا بِأَيْيدٍ وَإِنَّ ا لَمُوسِعُو نَ
Wa A l-'Arđa Farash nāhā Fani`ma A l-Māhidū na We have spread out the earth; how excellent a spreader We are![51.48] وَالأَرْضَ فَرَشْنَاهَا فَنِعْمَ ا لْمَاهِدُو نَ
Wa Min Kulli Sh ay'in Kh alaq nā Zawjayni La`allakum Tadh akkarū na We have created everything in pairs, so that you may learn a lesson from it.[51.49] وَمِن ْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْ نَا زَوْجَيْنِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُو نَ
Fafir rū 'Ilá A l-Lahi 'Inn ī Lakum Minhu Nadh ī r un Mubī nun O Prophet, say to mankind: “Rush towards Allah, surely I am assigned by Him as a plain Warner to you all.[51.50] فَفِرُّو ا إِلَى ا ل لَّهِ إِنِّ ي لَكُم ْ مِنْهُ نَذِي رٌ مُبِي نٌ
Wa Lā Taj `alū Ma`a A l-Lahi 'Ilahāan 'Ā kh ara 'Inn ī Lakum Minhu Nadh ī r un Mubī nun Do not set up another god besides Allah, surely I am assigned by Him as a plain Warner to you all."[51.51] وَلاَ تَجْ عَلُوا مَعَ ا ل لَّهِ إِلَهاً آخَرَ إِنِّ ي لَكُم ْ مِنْهُ نَذِي رٌ مُبِي نٌ
Kadh ālika Mā 'Atá A l-Ladh ī na Min Qab lihim Min Rasū lin 'Illā Qālū Sāĥir un 'Aw Maj nū nun It has been the case that whenever a Rasool came to the peoples before them, they said about him: “He is a sorcerer or a madman."[51.52] كَذَلِكَ مَا أَتَى ا لَّذِي نَ مِن ْ قَبْ لِهِم ْ مِن ْ رَسُو لٍ إِلاَّ قَالُ وا سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْ نُو نٌ
'Atawāşaw Bihi Bal Hum Qawmun Ţāgh ū na Have they transmitted this statement from one generation to the next? Nay, but they are all a rebellious people.[51.53] أَتَوَاصَوْا بِهِِ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ طَاغُو نَ
Fatawalla `Anhum Famā 'An ta Bimalū min So, O Prophet, ignore them; you are not at fault.[51.54] فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَمَا أَنْ تَ بِمَلُو مٍ
Wa Dh akkir Fa'inn a A dh -Dh ikrá Tan fa`u A l-Mu'uminī na But keep on admonishing them, for admonition is beneficial to the true believers.[51.55] وَذَكِّرْ فَإِنّ َ ا ل ذِّكْرَى تَن فَعُ ا لْمُؤْمِنِي نَ
Wa Mā Kh alaq tu A l-Jinn a Wa A l-'In sa 'Illā Liya`budū ni We have not created jinns and mankind except to worship Me.[51.56] وَمَا خَلَقْ تُ ا لْجِنّ َ وَالإِن سَ إِلاَّ لِيَعْبُدُو نِ
Mā 'Ur ī du Minhum Min R izqin Wa Mā 'Ur ī du 'An Yuţ `imū ni I require no sustenance from them, nor do I ask that they should feed Me.[51.57] مَا أُر ِي دُ مِنْهُم ْ مِن ْ ر ِزْقٍ وَمَا أُر ِي دُ أَن ْ يُطْ عِمُو نِ
'Inn a A l-Laha Huwa A r-Razzā qu Dh ū A l-Qūwati A l-Matī nu Surely it is Allah Who is the giver of all sustenance, the Lord of Power, the Invincible.[51.58] إِنّ َ ا ل لَّهَ هُوَ ا ل رَّزَّا قُ ذُو ا لْقُوَّةِ ا لْمَتِي نُ
Fa'inn a Lilladh ī na Žalamū Dh anūbāan Mith la Dh anū bi 'Aşĥābihim Falā Yasta`jilū ni Surely those who are wrongdoers, shall have their portion of torment similar to the portion of their predecessors; so let them not challenge Me to hurry it on.[51.59] فَإِنّ َ لِلَّذِي نَ ظَلَمُوا ذَنُوباً مِثْلَ ذَنُو بِ أَصْحَابِهِمْ فَلاَ يَسْتَعْجِلُو نِ
Fawaylun Lilladh ī na Kafarū Min Yawmihimu A l-Ladh ī Yū`adū na Woe then to the unbelievers, on that Day with which they are being threatened![51.60] فَوَيْل ٌ لِلَّذِي نَ كَفَرُوا مِن ْ يَوْمِهِمُ ا لَّذِي يُوعَدُو نَ
