| 'Alif-Lām-Mīm | Alif Lمm M'ïm.[29.1] | أَلِف-لَام-مِيم |
| 'Aĥasiba An-Nāsu 'An Yutrakū 'An Yaqūlū 'Āmannā Wa Hum Lā Yuftanūna | Do the people think that they will be left alone on saying “We believe,” and that they will not be tested?[29.2] | أَحَسِبَ النَّاسُ أَنْ يُتْرَكُوا أَنْ يَقُولُوا آمَنَّا وَهُمْ لاَ يُفْتَنُونَ |
| Wa Laqad Fatannā Al-Ladhīna Min Qablihim Falaya`lamanna Al-Lahu Al-Ladhīna Şadaqū Wa Laya`lamanna Al-Kādhibīna | We did test those who have gone before them. Allah has to see (for the purpose of reward and punishment) who are the truthful and who are the liars.[29.3] | وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ فَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْكَاذِبِينَ |
| 'Am Ĥasiba Al-Ladhīna Ya`malūna As-Sayyi'āti 'An Yasbiqūnā Sā'a Mā Yaĥkumūna | Or do the evildoers think that they will escape from Our reach? How bad is their judgment![29.4] | أَمْ حَسِبَ الَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ السَّيِّئَاتِ أَنْ يَسْبِقُونَا سَاءَ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ |
| Man Kāna Yarjū Liqā'a Al-Lahi Fa'inna 'Ajala Al-Lahi La'ātin Wa Huwa As-Samī`u Al-`Alīmu | He that hopes to meet Allah must know that Allah’s appointed time is sure to come and He hears all and knows all.[29.5] | مَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُو لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّ أَجَلَ اللَّهِ لَآتٍ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ |
| Wa Man Jāhada Fa'innamā Yujāhidu Linafsihi 'Inna Al-Laha Laghanīyun `Ani Al-`Ālamīna | He that strives, does that for his own soul; for Allah is certainly transcendent and beyond any need of the worlds.[29.6] | وَمَنْ جَاهَدَ فَإِنَّمَا يُجَاهِدُ لِنَفْسِهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَغَنِيٌّ عَنِ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti Lanukaffiranna `Anhum Sayyi'ātihim Wa Lanajziyannahum 'Aĥsana Al-Ladhī Kānū Ya`malūna | As for those who believe and do good deeds, We shall cleanse them of their sins and We shall reward them according to the best of their deeds.[29.7] | وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَنُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنْهُمْ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ أَحْسَنَ الَّذِي كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ |
| Wa Waşşaynā Al-'Insāna Biwālidayhi Ĥusnāan Wa 'In Jāhadāka Litushrika Bī Mā Laysa Laka Bihi `Ilmun Falā Tuţi`humā 'Ilayya Marji`ukum Fa'unabbi'ukum Bimā Kuntum Ta`malūna | We have enjoined man to show kindness to his parents; but if they (your parents) force you to commit shirk with Me, of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. To Me is your return and I will inform you of what you have done.[29.8] | وَوَصَّيْنَا الإِنسَانَ بِوَالِدَيْهِ حُسْناً وَإِنْ جَاهَدَاكَ لِتُشْرِكَ بِي مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِِ عِلْمٌ فَلاَ تُطِعْهُمَا إِلَيَّ مَرْجِعُكُمْ فَأُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti Lanudkhilannahum Fī Aş-Şāliĥīna | Those who have accepted the true faith and do good deeds shall be admitted among the righteous.[29.9] | وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَنُدْخِلَنَّهُمْ فِي الصَّالِحِينَ |
| Wa Mina An-Nāsi Man Yaqūlu 'Āmannā Bil-Lahi Fa'idhā 'Ūdhiya Fī Al-Lahi Ja`ala Fitnata An-Nāsi Ka`adhābi Al-Lahi Wa La'in Jā'a Naşrun Min Rabbika Layaqūlunna 'Innā Kunnā Ma`akum 'Awalaysa Al-Lahu Bi'a`lama Bimā Fī Şudūri Al-`Ālamīna | There are some among people, who say: “We believe in Allah;" yet when they suffer in the cause of Allah they confuse the persecution of people with the punishment of Allah. But when there comes help in the shape of a victory from your Rabb, they are sure to say: “We have always been with you." Is not Allah fully aware of what is in the hearts of the people of the world.[29.10] | وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَقُولُ آمَنَّا بِاللَّهِ فَإِذَا أُوذِيَ فِي اللَّهِ جَعَلَ فِتْنَةَ النَّاسِ كَعَذَابِ اللَّهِ وَلَئِنْ جَاءَ نَصْرٌ مِنْ رَبِّكَ لَيَقُولُنَّ إِنَّا كُنَّا مَعَكُمْ أَوَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ بِأَعْلَمَ بِمَا فِي صُدُورِ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| Wa Laya`lamanna Al-Lahu Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa Laya`lamanna Al-Munāfiqīna | Most surely Allah knows those who believe and knows those who are the hypocrites.[29.11] | وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ الْمُنَافِقِينَ |
| Wa Qāla Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Lilladhīna 'Āmanū Attabi`ū Sabīlanā Wa Lnaĥmil Khaţāyākum Wa Mā Hum Biĥāmilīna Min Khaţāyāhum Min Shay'in 'Innahum Lakādhibūna | The unbelievers say to the believers: “Follow us, and we will bear the burden of your sins.” But they will not bear any burden of their sins; they are surely lying.[29.12] | وَقَالَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّبِعُوا سَبِيلَنَا وَلْنَحْمِلْ خَطَايَاكُمْ وَمَا هُمْ بِحَامِلِينَ مِنْ خَطَايَاهُمْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ |
| Wa Layaĥmilunna 'Athqālahum Wa 'Athqālāan Ma`a 'Athqālihim Wa Layus'alunna Yawma Al-Qiyāmati `Ammā Kānū Yaftarūna | Of course, they shall bear their own burdens as well as the burdens of others in addition to their own; and on the Day of Resurrection they shall be questioned about their invented lies.[29.13] | وَلَيَحْمِلُنَّ أَثْقَالَهُمْ وَأَثْقَالاً مَعَ أَثْقَالِهِمْ وَلَيُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَمَّا كَانُوا يَفْتَرُونَ |
| Wa Laqad 'Arsalnā Nūĥāan 'Ilá Qawmihi Falabitha Fīhim 'Alfa Sanatin 'Illā Khamsīna `Āmāan Fa'akhadhahumu Aţ-Ţūfānu Wa Hum Žālimūn | We sent Nüh (Noah) to his people and he lived among them a thousand years less fifty. Then because of their wrongdoings the flood overtook them.[29.14] | وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحاً إِلَى قَوْمِهِِ فَلَبِثَ فِيهِمْ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ إِلاَّ خَمْسِينَ عَاماً فَأَخَذَهُمُ الطُّوفَانُ وَهُمْ ظَالِمُون |
| Fa'anjaynāhu Wa 'Aşĥāba As-Safīnati Wa Ja`alnāhā 'Āyatan Lil`ālamīna | But We delivered him and all who were in the ark and We made that ark a sign for the peoples of the world.[29.15] | فَأَنجَيْنَاهُُوَأَصْحَابَ السَّفِينَةِ وَجَعَلْنَاهَا آيَة ً لِلْعَالَمِينَ |
| Wa 'Ibrāhīma 'Idh Qāla Liqawmihi A`budū Al-Laha Wa Attaqūhu Dhālikum Khayrun Lakum 'In Kuntum Ta`lamūna | Likewise Ibrمhïm (Abraham), when he said to his people: “Worship Allah and fear Him, this is better for you if you understand.[29.16] | وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُُذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ |
| 'Innamā Ta`budūna Min Dūni Al-Lahi 'Awthānāan Wa Takhluqūna 'Ifkāan 'Inna Al-Ladhīna Ta`budūna Min Dūni Al-Lahi Lā Yamlikūna Lakum Rizqāan Fābtaghū `Inda Al-Lahi Ar-Rizqa Wa A`budūhu Wa Ashkurū Lahu 'Ilayhi Turja`ūna | You worship idols besides Allah and fabricate falsehood. In fact, those whom you worship besides Allah have no power to give you your sustenance, therefore seek your sustenance from Allah, and worship Him. Give thanks to Him, for to Him you shall be returned.[29.17] | إِنَّمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ أَوْثَاناً وَتَخْلُقُونَ إِفْكاً إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ لاَ يَمْلِكُونَ لَكُمْ رِزْقاً فَابْتَغُوا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ الرِّزْقَ وَاعْبُدُوهُُوَاشْكُرُوا لَهُ~ُ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ |
| Wa 'In Tukadhdhibū Faqad Kadhdhaba 'Umamun Min Qablikum Wa Mā `Alá Ar-Rasūli 'Illā Al-Balāghu Al-Mubīnu | If you deny the Message, then nations have denied before you . The only duty a Rasool has is to deliver Allah’s Message clearly."[29.18] | وَإِنْ تُكَذِّبُوا فَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أُمَمٌ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ وَمَا عَلَى الرَّسُولِ إِلاَّ الْبَلاَغُ الْمُبِينُ |
| 'Awalam Yaraw Kayfa Yubdi'u Al-Lahu Al-Khalqa Thumma Yu`īduhu 'Inna Dhālika `Alá Al-Lahi Yasīrun | Do they not see how Allah originates creation then repeats its process? Surely it is easy for Allah.[29.19] | أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا كَيْفَ يُبْدِئُ اللَّهُ الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُ~ُ إِنَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسِيرٌ |
| Qul Sīrū Fī Al-'Arđi Fānžurū Kayfa Bada'a Al-Khalqa Thumma Al-Lahu Yunshi'u An-Nash'ata Al-'Ākhirata 'Inna Al-Laha `Alá Kulli Shay'in Qadīrun | Say to them: “Travel through the earth and see how Allah originates the creation, then creates the later creation. Surely Allah has power over everything.[29.20] | قُلْ سِيرُوا فِي الأَرْضِ فَانْظُرُوا كَيْفَ بَدَأَ الْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ اللَّهُ يُنشِئُ النَّشْأَةَ الآخِرَةَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ |
| Yu`adhdhibu Man Yashā'u Wa Yarĥamu Man Yashā'u Wa 'Ilayhi Tuqlabūna | He punishes whom He wills and shows mercy to whom He pleases, and to Him you shall be turned back.[29.21] | يُعَذِّبُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَرْحَمُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَإِلَيْهِ تُقْلَبُونَ |
| Wa Mā 'Antum Bimu`jizīna Fī Al-'Arđi Wa Lā Fī As-Samā'i Wa Mā Lakum Min Dūni Al-Lahi Min Wa Līyin Wa Lā Naşīrin | Neither can you frustrate Him in the earth or in the Heaven; nor have you any protector or helper besides Allah."[29.22] | وَمَا أَنْتُمْ بِمُعْجِزِينَ فِي الأَرْضِ وَلاَ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ مِنْ وَلِيٍّ وَلاَ نَصِيرٍ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Kafarū Bi'āyāti Al-Lahi Wa Liqā'ihi 'Ūlā'ika Ya'isū Min Raĥmatī Wa 'Ūlā'ika Lahum `Adhābun 'Alīmun | As for those who disbelieve Allah’s revelations and deny that they will ever meet Him, they are the ones who shall despair of My mercy and they are the ones who shall have a painful punishment.[29.23] | وَالَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَلِقَائِهِ أُوْلَائِكَ يَئِسُوا مِنْ رَحْمَتِي وَأُوْلَائِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ |
| Famā Kāna Jawāba Qawmihi 'Illā 'An Qālū Aqtulūhu 'Aw Ĥarriqūhu Fa'anjāhu Al-Lahu Mina An-Nāri 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyātin Liqawmin Yu'uminūna | The people of Ibrمhïm (Abraham) had no answer except to say: “Kill him!” Or “Burn him!” But Allah saved him from the fire when they tried to burn him. Surely in this incident there are signs for those who believe.[29.24] | فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِ إِلاَّ أَنْ قَالُوا اقْتُلُوهُ~ُ أَوْ حَرِّقُوهُُفَأَنجَاهُ اللَّهُ مِنَ النَّارِ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Wa Qāla 'Innamā Attakhadhtum Min Dūni Al-Lahi 'Awthānāan Mawaddata Baynikum Fī Al-Ĥayāati Ad-Dunyā Thumma Yawma Al-Qiyāmati Yakfuru Ba`đukum Biba`đin Wa Yal`anu Ba`đukum Ba`đāan Wa Ma'wākumu An-Nāru Wa Mā Lakum Min Nāşirīna | After coming out from the fire safely, Ibrمhïm addressed them: “Today you have made idols, instead of Allah, a means of affection among yourselves, but remember, on the Day of Resurrection you shall disown and curse one another. Fire shall be your abode and you shall have no helper."[29.25] | وَقَالَ إِنَّمَا اتَّخَذْتُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ أَوْثَاناً مَوَدَّةَ بَيْنِكُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا ثُمَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ يَكْفُرُ بَعْضُكُمْ بِبَعْضٍ وَيَلْعَنُ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضاً وَمَأْوَاكُمُ النَّارُ وَمَا لَكُمْ مِنْ نَاصِرِينَ |
| Fa'āmana Lahu Lūţun Wa Qāla 'Innī Muhājirun 'Ilá Rabbī 'Innahu Huwa Al-`Azīzu Al-Ĥakīmu | Witnessing this whole incident, Lüt (Lot) affirmed his belief with Ibrمhïm. Finally Ibrمhïm said: “I will migrate towards my Rabb (go where my Rabb has bidden me). He is the Mighty, the Wise."[29.26] | فَآمَنَ لَهُُلُوطٌ وَقَالَ إِنِّي مُهَاجِرٌ إِلَى رَبِّي إِنَّهُُهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ |
| Wa Wahabnā Lahu 'Isĥāqa Wa Ya`qūba Wa Ja`alnā Fī Dhurrīyatihi An-Nubūwata Wa Al-Kitāba Wa 'Ātaynāhu 'Ajrahu Fī Ad-Dunyā Wa 'Innahu Fī Al-'Ākhirati Lamina Aş-Şāliĥīn | We gave him Ishمq (Isaac - a son) and Ya'qoob (Jacob - a grandson), and placed the Prophethood and the Book in his progeny - thus We gave him his reward in this life, and in the hereafter he will surely be among the righteous.[29.27] | وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُ~ُ إِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَجَعَلْنَا فِي ذُرِّيَّتِهِ النُّبُوَّةَ وَالْكِتَابَ وَآتَيْنَاهُ~ُ أَجْرَهُُفِي الدُّنْيَا وَإِنَّهُُفِي الآخِرَةِ لَمِنَ الصَّالِحِين |
| Wa Lūţāan 'Idh Qāla Liqawmihi 'Innakum Lata'tūna Al-Fāĥishata Mā Sabaqakum Bihā Min 'Aĥadin Mina Al-`Ālamīna | When Lüt (Lot) said to his people: “Surely you are committing such sexual misconduct as no one in the worlds has ever attempted before you.[29.28] | وَلُوطاً إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ إِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ الْفَاحِشَةَ مَا سَبَقَكُمْ بِهَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ |
| 'A'innakum Lata'tūna Ar-Rijāla Wa Taqţa`ūna As-Sabīla Wa Ta'tūna Fī Nādīkumu Al-Munkara Famā Kāna Jawāba Qawmihi 'Illā 'An Qālū A'tinā Bi`adhābi Al-Lahi 'In Kunta Mina Aş-Şādiqīna | Do you lust after males, commit robbery on the highways and commit evil deeds even in your assemblies?” His people had no answer except to say: “Bring us the scourge of Allah if you are truthful."[29.29] | أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ الرِّجَالَ وَتَقْطَعُونَ السَّبِيلَ وَتَأْتُونَ فِي نَادِيكُمُ الْمُنكَرَ فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِ إِلاَّ أَنْ قَالُوا ائْتِنَا بِعَذَابِ اللَّهِ إِنْ كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ |
| Qāla Rabbi Anşurnī `Alá Al-Qawmi Al-Mufsidīna | Lüt prayed: “O Rabb! Help me against this degenerate nation."[29.30] | قَالَ رَبِّ انصُرْنِي عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْمُفْسِدِينَ |
| Wa Lammā Jā'at Rusulunā 'Ibrāhīma Bil-Bushrá Qālū 'Innā Muhlikū 'Ahli Hadhihi Al-Qaryati 'Inna 'Ahlahā Kānū Žālimīna | When Our Messengers (angels) came to Ibrمhïm (Abraham) with the good news (the birth of a son in his old age), they said: “We are to destroy the people of that township, for its people are indeed wrongdoers."[29.31] | وَلَمَّا جَاءَتْ رُسُلُنَا إِبْرَاهِيمَ بِالْبُشْرَى قَالُوا إِنَّا مُهْلِكُو أَهْلِ هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ إِنَّ أَهْلَهَا كَانُوا ظَالِمِينَ |
| Qāla 'Inna Fīhā Lūţāan Qālū Naĥnu 'A`lamu Biman Fīhā Lanunajjiyannahu Wa 'Ahlahu 'Illā Amra'atahu Kānat Mina Al-Ghābirīn | Ibrمhïm said: “But Lüt is in there." The angels replied: “We know who is in there: we shall certainly save him and his family, except his wife, who will remain behind!”[29.32] | قَالَ إِنَّ فِيهَا لُوطاً قَالُوا نَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ فِيهَا لَنُنَجِّيَنَّهُُوَأَهْلَهُ~ُ إِلاَّ امْرَأَتَهُُكَانَتْ مِنَ الْغَابِرِين |
| Wa Lammā 'An Jā'at Rusulunā Lūţāan Sī'a Bihim Wa Đāqa Bihim Dhar`āan Wa Qālū Lā Takhaf Wa Lā Taĥzan 'Innā Munajjūka Wa 'Ahlaka 'Illā Amra'ataka Kānat Mina Al-Ghābirīna | And when Our Messengers (angels) came to Lüt he became sad and anxious on their account, for he felt powerless to protect them. But they said “Do not fear nor grieve (we are the angels assigned for their torment): we shall save you and your family except your wife; she will be of those who will remain behind.[29.33] | وَلَمَّا أَنْ جَاءَتْ رُسُلُنَا لُوطاً سِيءَ بِهِمْ وَضَاقَ بِهِمْ ذَرْعاً وَقَالُوا لاَ تَخَفْ وَلاَ تَحْزَنْ إِنَّا مُنَجُّوكَ وَأَهْلَكَ إِلاَّ امْرَأَتَكَ كَانَتْ مِنَ الْغَابِرِينَ |
| 'Innā Munzilūna `Alá 'Ahli Hadhihi Al-Qaryati Rijzāan Mina As-Samā'i Bimā Kānū Yafsuqūna | We are going to bring down a scourge from heaven upon the people of this town on account of their transgression."[29.34] | إِنَّا مُنزِلُونَ عَلَى أَهْلِ هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ رِجْزاً مِنَ السَّمَاءِ بِمَا كَانُوا يَفْسُقُونَ |
| Wa Laqad Taraknā Minhā 'Āyatan Bayyinatan Liqawmin Ya`qilūna | Surely We have left a clear sign from it (the ruins of this town) for people who care to understand.[29.35] | وَلَقَد تَرَكْنَا مِنْهَا آيَةً بَيِّنَة ً لِقَوْمٍ يَعْقِلُونَ |
| Wa 'Ilá Madyana 'Akhāhum Shu`aybāan Faqāla Yā Qawmi A`budū Al-Laha Wa Arjū Al-Yawma Al-'Ākhira Wa Lā Ta`thaw Fī Al-'Arđi Mufsidīn | To the people of Madyan We sent their brother Shu‘aib, who said: “O my people! Worship Allah and look forward to the Last Day, and do not transgress in the land wickedly."[29.36] | وَإِلَى مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْباً فَقَالَ يَاقَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَارْجُوا الْيَوْمَ الآخِرَ وَلاَ تَعْثَوْا فِي الأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِين |
| Fakadhdhabūhu Fa'akhadhat/humu Ar-Rajfatu Fa'aşbaĥū Fī Dārihim Jāthimīna | But they denied him, so a severe earthquake seized them and by the morning they were lifeless bodies in their own homes.[29.37] | فَكَذَّبُوهُُفَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ |
| Wa `Ādāan Wa Thamūda Wa Qad Tabayyana Lakum Min Masākinihim Wa Zayyana Lahumu Ash-Shayţānu 'A`mālahum Faşaddahum `Ani As-Sabīli Wa Kānū Mustabşirīna | Likewise We destroyed the people of ‘Ad and the Thamüd: you have seen the traces of their dwellings. Shaitمn had made their foul deeds fair-seeming to them and diverted them from the Right Way, though they were intelligent people.[29.38] | وَعَاداً وَثَمُودَ وَقَدْ تَبَيَّنَ لَكُمْ مِنْ مَسَاكِنِهِمْ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّبِيلِ وَكَانُوا مُسْتَبْصِرِينَ |
| Wa Qārūna Wa Fir`awna Wa Hāmāna Wa Laqad Jā'ahum Mūsá Bil-Bayyināti Fāstakbarū Fī Al-'Arđi Wa Mā Kānū Sābiqīna | Musa (Moses) came to Qarün (Korah), Fir'on (Pharaoh) and Hamمn with clear signs but they remained arrogant in the land; yet they could not go ahead of Us.[29.39] | وَقَارُونَ وَفِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامَانَ وَلَقَدْ جَاءَهُمْ مُوسَى بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ فَاسْتَكْبَرُوا فِي الأَرْضِ وَمَا كَانُوا سَابِقِينَ |
| Fakullāan 'Akhadhnā Bidhanbihi Faminhum Man 'Arsalnā `Alayhi Ĥāşibāan Wa Minhum Man 'Akhadhat/hu Aş-Şayĥatu Wa Minhum Man Khasafnā Bihi Al-'Arđa Wa Minhum Man 'Aghraqnā Wa Mā Kāna Al-Lahu Liyažlimahum Wa Lakin Kānū 'Anfusahum Yažlimūna | We seized all of them for their sinfulness: against some We sent a violent tornado full of stones, some were seized by a mighty blast, some were swallowed up by the earth, and yet some We drowned. It was not Allah Who was unjust to them, but they were unjust to their own souls.[29.40] | فَكُلّاً أَخَذْنَا بِذَنْبِهِِ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ حَاصِباً وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ أَخَذَتْهُ الصَّيْحَةُ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ خَسَفْنَا بِهِ الأَرْضَ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ أَغْرَقْنَا وَمَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْ وَلَكِنْ كَانُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ |
| Mathalu Al-Ladhīna Attakhadhū Min Dūni Al-Lahi 'Awliyā'a Kamathali Al-`Ankabūti Attakhadhat Baytāan Wa 'Inna 'Awhana Al-Buyūti Labaytu Al-`Ankabūti Law Kānū Ya`lamūna | The likeness of those who take Auliy?' (protectors and helpers) other than All?h is as the likeness of a spider, who builds (for itself) a house, but verily, the frailest (weakest) of houses is the spider's house; if they but knew. (Al-'Ankabut [29.41] | مَثَلُ الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ أَوْلِيَاءَ كَمَثَلِ الْعَنكَبُوتِ اتَّخَذَتْ بَيْتاً وَإِنَّ أَوْهَنَ الْبُيُوتِ لَبَيْتُ الْعَنْكَبُوتِ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ |
| 'Inna Al-Laha Ya`lamu Mā Yad`ūna Min Dūnihi Min Shay'in Wa Huwa Al-`Azīzu Al-Ĥakīmu | Verily, All?h knows what things they invoke instead of Him. He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. (Al-'Ankabut [29.42] | إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَعْلَمُ مَا يَدْعُونَ مِنْ دُونِهِِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ |
| Wa Tilka Al-'Amthālu Nađribuhā Lilnnāsi Wa Mā Ya`qiluhā 'Illā Al-`Ālimūna | And these similitudes We put forward for mankind, but none will understand them except those who have knowledge (of All?h and His Signs, etc.). (Al-'Ankabut [29.43] | وَتِلْكَ الأَمْثَالُ نَضْرِبُهَا لِلنَّاسِ وَمَا يَعْقِلُهَا إِلاَّ الْعَالِمُونَ |
| Khalaqa Al-Lahu As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđa Bil-Ĥaqqi 'Inna Fī Dhālika La'āyatan Lilmu'uminīna | (All?h says to His Prophet Muhammad SAW): "All?h (Alone) created the heavens and the earth with truth (and none shared Him in their creation)." Verily! Therein is surely a sign for those who believe. (Al-'Ankabut [29.44] | خَلَقَ اللَّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَة ً لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ |
| Atlu Mā 'Ūĥiya 'Ilayka Mina Al-Kitābi Wa 'Aqimu Aş-Şalāata 'Inna Aş-Şalāata Tanhá `Ani Al-Faĥshā'i Wa Al-Munkari Wa Ladhikru Al-Lahi 'Akbaru Wa Allāhu Ya`lamu Mā Taşna`ūna | Recite from this Book (Al-Qur'an) which has been revealed to you and establish Salah (Islamic prayers). Surely Salah keeps one away from shameful and evil deeds; and surely the remembrance of Allah (and Allah’s mention of your name in front of the angels) is the greatest indeed, Allah knows what you do.[29.45] | اتْلُ مَا أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ مِنَ الْكِتَابِ وَأَقِمُ الصَّلاَةَ إِنَّ الصَّلاَةَ تَنْهَى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالْمُنْكَرِ وَلَذِكْرُ اللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ |
| Wa Lā Tujādilū 'Ahla Al-Kitābi 'Illā Bi-Atī Hiya 'Aĥsanu 'Illā Al-Ladhīna Žalamū Minhum Wa Qūlū 'Āmannā Bial-Ladhī 'Unzila 'Ilaynā Wa 'Unzila 'Ilaykum Wa 'Ilahunā Wa 'Ilahukum Wāĥidun Wa Naĥnu Lahu Muslimūna | Do not argue with the People of the Book except in good taste - except with those who are wicked among them - and say: “We believe in that which is sent down to us and that which is sent down to you; Our God and your God is the same One God to Whom we submit as Muslims."[29.46] | وَلاَ تُجَادِلُوا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ إِلاَّ بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ إِلاَّ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مِنْهُمْ وَقُولُوا آمَنَّا بِالَّذِي أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَأُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَإِلَهُنَا وَإِلَهُكُمْ وَاحِدٌ وَنَحْنُ لَهُُمُسْلِمُونَ |
| Wa Kadhalika 'Anzalnā 'Ilayka Al-Kitāba Fa-Al-Ladhīna 'Ātaynāhumu Al-Kitāba Yu'uminūna Bihi Wa Min Hā'uulā' Man Yu'uminu Bihi Wa Mā Yajĥadu Bi'āyātinā 'Illā Al-Kāfirūna | O Prophet, We have sent down this Book to you (similar to that of Musa and Isa). So the People of the Book believe in it, and so do some of these (people of Arabia): and none but unbelievers deny Our revelations.[29.47] | وَكَذَلِكَ أَنْزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ فَالَّذِينَ آتَيْنَاهُمُ الْكِتَابَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِِ وَمِنْ هَاؤُلاَء مَنْ يُؤْمِنُ بِهِِ وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِآيَاتِنَا إِلاَّ الْكَافِرُونَ |
| Wa Mā Kunta Tatlū Min Qablihi Min Kitābin Wa Lā Takhuţţuhu Biyamīnika 'Idhāan Lārtāba Al-Mubţilūna | O Muhammad, you have never read a book before this nor have you ever transcribed one with your right hand. Had you done either of these, the quibblers could suspect it.[29.48] | وَمَا كُنْتَ تَتْلُو مِنْ قَبْلِهِِ مِنْ كِتَابٍ وَلاَ تَخُطُّهُُبِيَمِينِكَ إِذاً لاَرْتَابَ الْمُبْطِلُونَ |
| Bal Huwa 'Āyātun Bayyinātun Fī Şudūri Al-Ladhīna 'Ūtū Al-`Ilma Wa Mā Yajĥadu Bi'āyātinā 'Illā Až-Žālimūna | Rather, these are clear signs in the breast of those who are endowed with knowledge: and none deny Our signs except the wrongdoers.[29.49] | بَلْ هُوَ آيَاتٌ بَيِّنَاتٌ فِي صُدُورِ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِآيَاتِنَا إِلاَّ الظَّالِمُونَ |
| Wa Qālū Lawlā 'Unzila `Alayhi 'Āyātun Min Rabbihi Qul 'Innamā Al-'Āyātu `Inda Al-Lahi Wa 'Innamā 'Anā Nadhīrun Mubīnun | They ask: “Why have the signs not been sent down to him from his Rabb?" Tell them: “The signs are in the hands of Allah. I am only a plain Warner."[29.50] | وَقَالُوا لَوْلاَ أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ آيَاتٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِِ قُلْ إِنَّمَا الآيَاتُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَإِنَّمَا أَنَا نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ |
| 'Awalam Yakfihim 'Annā 'Anzalnā `Alayka Al-Kitāba Yutlá `Alayhim 'Inna Fī Dhālika Laraĥmatan Wa Dhikrá Liqawmin Yu'uminūna | Is it not enough for them that We have sent down to you this Book (AL-Qur’an) which is recited to them, surely in it is a blessing and a reminder for those who believe.[29.51] | أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِهِمْ أَنَّا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ يُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَرَحْمَةً وَذِكْرَى لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ |
| Qul Kafá Bil-Lahi Baynī Wa Baynakum Shahīdāan Ya`lamu Mā Fī As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđi Wa Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Bil-Bāţili Wa Kafarū Bil-Lahi 'Ūlā'ika Humu Al-Khāsirūna | Tell them: “Allah is sufficient as a witness between me and you - for He knows all that is in the heavens and the earth - those who believe in falsehood and disbelieve Allah, it is they who shall be the losers."[29.52] | قُلْ كَفَى بِاللَّهِ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ شَهِيداً يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِالْبَاطِلِ وَكَفَرُوا بِاللَّهِ أُوْلَائِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ |
| Wa Yasta`jilūnaka Bil-`Adhābi Wa Lawlā 'Ajalun Musammáan Lajā'ahumu Al-`Adhābu Wa Laya'tiyannahum Baghtatan Wa Hum Lā Yash`urūna | They challenge you to hasten the scourge on them. Had a time not been fixed for it, the scourge would already have overtaken them. It is going to come suddenly and catch them unaware.[29.53] | وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ بِالْعَذَابِ وَلَوْلاَ أَجَلٌ مُسَمّىً لَجَاءَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ وَلَيَأْتِيَنَّهُمْ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لاَ يَشْعُرُونَ |
| Yasta`jilūnaka Bil-`Adhābi Wa 'Inna Jahannama Lamuĥīţatun Bil-Kāfirīna | They challenge you to hasten the scourge, whereas hell has already encircled the unbelievers.[29.54] | يَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ بِالْعَذَابِ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةٌ بِالْكَافِرِينَ |
| Yawma Yaghshāhumu Al-`Adhābu Min Fawqihim Wa Min Taĥti 'Arjulihim Wa Yaqūlu Dhūqū Mā Kuntum Ta`malūna | On that Day the punishment shall cover them from above and from beneath their feet, and Allah will say: “Now taste the reward of your deeds."[29.55] | يَوْمَ يَغْشَاهُمُ الْعَذَابُ مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِنْ تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِهِمْ وَيَقُولُ ذُوقُوا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ |
| Yā `Ibādiya Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū 'Inna 'Arđī Wāsi`atun Fa'īyāya Fā`budūni | O My servants who have believed! Surely My earth is spacious to migrate if needed, therefore worship Me and Me Alone.[29.56] | يَاعِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّ أَرْضِي وَاسِعَةٌ فَإِيَّايَ فَاعْبُدُونِ |
| Kullu Nafsin Dhā'iqatu Al-Mawti Thumma 'Ilaynā Turja`ūna | Every soul shall taste death, then to Us you shall all return.[29.57] | كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَائِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ ثُمَّ إِلَيْنَا تُرْجَعُونَ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna 'Āmanū Wa `Amilū Aş-Şāliĥāti Lanubawwi'annahum Mina Al-Jannati Ghurafāan Tajrī Min Taĥtihā Al-'Anhāru Khālidīna Fīhā Ni`ma 'Ajru Al-`Āmilīna | Those who embrace true faith and do good deeds shall be lodged in the mansions of paradise beneath which rivers flow, to live therein forever. What an excellent reward for the doers of good deeds;[29.58] | وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ غُرَفاً تَجْرِي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا نِعْمَ أَجْرُ الْعَامِلِينَ |
| Al-Ladhīna Şabarū Wa `Alá Rabbihim Yatawakkalūna | the ones who have shown patience and put their trust in their Rabb.[29.59] | الَّذِينَ صَبَرُوا وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ |
| Wa Ka'ayyin Min Dābbatin Lā Taĥmilu Rizqahā Al-Lahu Yarzuquhā Wa 'Īyākum Wa Huwa As-Samī`u Al-`Alīmu | How many creatures are there that do not carry their provisions with them? Allah provides for them as He provides for you. It is He Who is All-hearing, All-knowing.[29.60] | وَكَأَيِّن مِنْ دَابَّةٍ لاَ تَحْمِلُ رِزْقَهَا اللَّهُ يَرْزُقُهَا وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ |
| Wa La'in Sa'altahum Man Khalaqa As-Samāwāti Wa Al-'Arđa Wa Sakhkhara Ash-Shamsa Wa Al-Qamara Layaqūlunna Al-Lahu Fa'annā Yu'ufakūna | If you ask the disbelievers as to who has created the heavens and the earth, and subjected the sun and the moon to His laws? They will certainly say: “Allah!” How are they then being deluded away from the truth?[29.61] | وَلَئِنْ سَأَلْتَهُمْ مَنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضَ وَسَخَّرَ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ لَيَقُولُنَّ اللَّهُ فَأَنَّا يُؤْفَكُونَ |
| Al-Lahu Yabsuţu Ar-Rizqa Liman Yashā'u Min `Ibādihi Wa Yaqdiru Lahu 'Inna Al-Laha Bikulli Shay'in `Alīmun | Allah gives abundantly to whom He pleases and sparingly to whom He wills; surely Allah has knowledge of all things.[29.62] | اللَّهُ يَبْسُطُ الرِّزْقَ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِِ وَيَقْدِرُلَهُ~ُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ |
| Wa La'in Sa'altahum Man Nazzala Mina As-Samā'i Mā'an Fa'aĥyā Bihi Al-'Arđa Min Ba`di Mawtihā Layaqūlunna Al-Lahu Quli Al-Ĥamdu Lillahi Bal 'Aktharuhum Lā Ya`qilūna | And if you ask them who sends down rainwater from the sky and thereby raises the dead land back to life?” They will certainly say: “Allah!” Say, “Praise be to Allah!” Yet most of them do not use their common sense.[29.63] | وَلَئِنْ سَأَلْتَهُمْ مَنْ نَزَّلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً فَأَحْيَا بِهِ الأَرْضَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَوْتِهَا لَيَقُولُنَّ اللَّهُ قُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لاَ يَعْقِلُونَ |
| Wa Mā Hadhihi Al-Ĥayāatu Ad-Dunyā 'Illā Lahwun Wa La`ibun Wa 'Inna Ad-Dāra Al-'Ākhirata Lahiya Al-Ĥayawānu Law Kānū Ya`lamūna | The life of this world is nothing but a pastime and play! It is the life of the hereafter that is the true life, if they but knew it.[29.64] | وَمَا هَذِهِ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلاَّ لَهْوٌ وَلَعِبٌ وَإِنَّ الدَّارَ الآخِرَةَ لَهِيَ الْحَيَوَانُ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ |
| Fa'idhā Rakibū Fī Al-Fulki Da`aw Al-Laha Mukhlişīna Lahu Ad-Dīna Falammā Najjāhum 'Ilá Al-Barri 'Idhā Hum Yushrikūna | If they embark on a ship, and the ship gets into trouble, they call upon Allah, being sincerely obedient to Him; but when He brings them safely to land, they start committing shirk (giving credit for their safe arrival to others);[29.65] | فَإِذَا رَكِبُوا فِي الْفُلْكِ دَعَوْا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ فَلَمَّا نَجَّاهُمْ إِلَى الْبَرِّ إِذَا هُمْ يُشْرِكُونَ |
| Liyakfurū Bimā 'Ātaynāhum Wa Liyatamatta`ū Fasawfa Ya`lamūna | so that they may become ungrateful for the blessing that We have bestowed on them and enjoy the life of this world! They will soon come to know the result of this behavior.[29.66] | لِيَكْفُرُوا بِمَا آتَيْنَاهُمْ وَلِيَتَمَتَّعُوا فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ |
| 'Awalam Yaraw 'Annā Ja`alnā Ĥaramāan 'Āmināan Wa Yutakhaţţafu An-Nāsu Min Ĥawlihim 'Afabiālbāţili Yu'uminūna Wa Bini`mati Al-Lahi Yakfurūna | Do they not see that We have made for them a secure sanctuary in the Ka'bah, while the people are being snatched away from all around them? Do they still believe in falsehood and deny the blessings of Allah?[29.67] | أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّا جَعَلْنَا حَرَماً آمِناً وَيُتَخَطَّفُ النَّاسُ مِنْ حَوْلِهِمْ أَفَبِالْبَاطِلِ يُؤْمِنُونَ وَبِنِعْمَةِ اللَّهِ يَكْفُرُونَ |
| Wa Man 'Ažlamu Mimmani Aftará `Alá Al-Lahi Kadhibāan 'Aw Kadhdhaba Bil-Ĥaqqi Lammā Jā'ahu 'Alaysa Fī Jahannama Mathwáan Lilkāfirīna | And who is more wicked than the one who forges a lie against Allah or rejects the Truth when it reaches him? Is not the hell a fitting abode for such disbelievers?[29.68] | وَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرَى عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِباً أَوْ كَذَّبَ بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاءَهُ~ُ أَلَيْسَ فِي جَهَنَّمَ مَثْوىً لِلْكَافِرِينَ |
| Wa Al-Ladhīna Jāhadū Fīnā Lanahdiyannahum Subulanā Wa 'Inna Al-Laha Lama`a Al-Muĥsinīna | As for those who strive in Our cause, We will surely guide them to Our ways; rest assured that Allah is with the righteous.[29.69] | وَالَّذِينَ جَاهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمَعَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ |
