Kāf-Hā-Yā-`Ayn -Şād Kمf Hم' Yم' ‘Ayn Suمd.[19.1] كَاف-هَا-يَا-عَين -صَاد
Dh ikru Raĥmati Rabbika `Ab dahu Zakar īyā This is a reminder of blessings that your Rabb bestowed on His servant Zakariya,[19.2] ذِكْرُ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّكَ عَبْ دَهُُزَكَر ِيَّا
'Idh Nādá Rabbahu Nidā 'an Kh afīyāan when he invoked his Rabb in secret,[19.3] إِذْ نَادَى رَبَّهُُنِدَا ءً خَفِيّاً
Qā la Rabbi 'Inn ī Wahana A l-`Ažmu Minn ī Wa A sh ta`ala A r-Ra'su Sh aybāan Wa Lam 'Akun Bidu`ā 'ika Rabbi Sh aqīyāan saying: “O Rabb! Surely my bones have weakened and the hair of my head glistens with grey, while I have never been disappointed in my prayer to You, O Rabb![19.4] قَا لَ رَبِّ إِنِّ ي وَهَنَ ا لْعَظْمُ مِنِّ ي وَاشْتَعَلَ ا ل رَّأْسُ شَيْباً وَلَمْ أَكُن ْ بِدُعَائِكَ رَبِّ شَقِيّاً
Wa 'Inn ī Kh iftu A l-Mawāliya Min Warā 'ī Wa Kānati A m ra'atī `Āqirāan Fahab Lī Min Ladun ka Walīyāan Surely, I fear about my relatives after me, for my wife is barren, grant me an heir by Your grace[19.5] وَإِنِّ ي خِفْتُ ا لْمَوَالِيَ مِن ْ وَرَائِ ي وَكَانَتِ ا مْرَأَتِي عَاقِراً فَهَب ْ لِي مِن ْ لَدُنْ كَ وَلِيّاً
Yar ith unī Wa Yar ith u Min 'Ā li Ya`qū ba Wa A j `alhu Rabbi Rađīyāan who should inherit me and inherit the posterity of Ya'qoob, and make him, O my Rabb, a desirable person!”[19.6] يَر ِثُنِي وَيَر ِثُ مِن ْ آلِ يَعْقُو بَ وَاجْ عَلْهُ رَبِّ رَضِيّاً
Yā Zakar īyā 'Inn ā Nubash sh iruka Bigh ulā min A smuhu Yaĥyá Lam Naj `al Lahu Min Qab lu Samīyāan We answered his prayer saying: “O Zakariya! Surely We give you the good news of a son, his name shall be Yahya (John): a name that no one has had before him.”[19.7] يَازَكَر ِيَّا إِنَّ ا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلاَمٍ ا سْمُهُُيَحْيَى لَمْ نَجْ عَل ْ لَهُُمِن ْ قَبْ لُ سَمِيّاً
Qā la Rabbi 'Ann á Yakū nu Lī Gh ulā mun Wa Kānat A m ra'atī `Āqirāan Wa Qad Balagh tu Mina A l-Kibar i `Itīyāan He asked: “O Rabb! How shall I have a son when my wife is barren and I have become impotent from old age?”[19.8] قَا لَ رَبِّ أَنَّ ى يَكُو نُ لِي غُلاَمٌ وَكَانَتْ ا مْرَأَتِي عَاقِراً وَقَد ْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ ا لْكِبَر ِ عِتِيّاً
Qā la Kadh ālika Qā la Rabbuka Huwa `Alayya Hayyinun Wa Qad Kh alaq tuka Min Qab lu Wa Lam Taku Sh ay'ā an The answer came: “So shall it be. Your Rabb says: ‘It shall not be a difficult task for Me, just as I created you before, when you were nothing at all!"[19.9] قَا لَ كَذَلِكَ قَا لَ رَبُّكَ هُوَ عَلَيَّ هَيِّنٌ وَقَد ْ خَلَقْ تُكَ مِن ْ قَبْ لُ وَلَمْ تَكُ شَيْئاً
Qā la Rabbi A j `al Lī 'Ā yatan Qā la 'Ā yatuka 'Allā Tukallima A n -Nā sa Th alāth a Layā lin Sawīyāan Zakariya said “O my Rabb! Give me a Sign”. He said: “Your sign is that for three nights you shall not be able to speak to the people even being sound in health.”[19.10] قَا لَ رَبِّ ا جْ عَل لِي آيَةً قَا لَ آيَتُكَ أَلاَّ تُكَلِّمَ ا ل نّ َا سَ ثَلاَثَ لَيَا لٍ سَوِيّاً
Fakh araja `Alá Qawmihi Mina A l-Miĥrā bi Fa'awĥá 'Ilayhim 'An Sabbiĥū Bukratan Wa `Ash īyāan After this Zakariya came out of the shrine and asked his people, through sign language, to glorify Allah in the morning and in the evening.[19.11] فَخَرَجَ عَلَى قَوْمِهِِ مِنَ ا لْمِحْرَا بِ فَأَوْحَى إِلَيْهِمْ أَن ْ سَبِّحُوا بُكْرَةً وَعَشِيّاً
Yā Yaĥyá Kh udh i A l-Kitā ba Biqūwatin Wa 'Ā taynā hu A l-Ĥukma Şabīyāan To Yahya, when he became old enough, We said: “ Hold firmly to the Book." We granted him wisdom, while he was yet a boy,[19.12] يَايَحْيَى خُذِ ا لْكِتَا بَ بِقُوَّةٍ وَآتَيْنَا هُ ا لْحُكْمَ صَبِيّاً
Wa Ĥanānāan Min Ladunn ā Wa Zakāatan Wa Kā na Taqīyāan and also granted him kindness and purity by Our grace, and he grew up a pious man;[19.13] وَحَنَان اً مِن ْ لَدُنَّ ا وَزَكَا ةً وَكَا نَ تَقِيّاً
Wa Barrāan Biwālidayhi Wa Lam Yakun Jabbārāan `Aşīyāan dutiful to his parents - he was neither arrogant nor disobedient.[19.14] وَبَرّاً بِوَالِدَيْهِ وَلَمْ يَكُن ْ جَبَّاراً عَصِيّاً
Wa Salā mun `Alayhi Yawma Wulida Wa Yawma Yamū tu Wa Yawma Yub `ath u Ĥayyāan Peace be on him the day he was born, the day of his death and the Day he will be raised to life again![19.15] وَسَلاَمٌ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمَ وُلِدَ وَيَوْمَ يَمُو تُ وَيَوْمَ يُبْ عَثُ حَيّاً
Wa A dh kur Fī A l-Kitā bi Maryama 'Idh A n tabadh at Min 'Ahlihā Makānāan Sh arqīyāan O Muhammad, relate to them the story of Maryam in the Book (The Qur'an) when she withdrew from her family to a place in the East.[19.16] وَاذْكُرْ فِي ا لْكِتَا بِ مَرْيَمَ إِذْ ا ن تَبَذَتْ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا مَكَان اً شَرْقِيّاً
Fā ttakh adh at Min Dūnihim Ĥijābāan Fa'arsalnā 'Ilayhā Rūĥanā Fatamath th ala Lahā Bash arāan Sawīyāan She chose to be secluded from them. We sent to her Our angel and he appeared before her as a grown man.[19.17] فَا تَّخَذَتْ مِن ْ دُونِهِمْ حِجَاباً فَأَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهَا رُوحَنَا فَتَمَثَّلَ لَهَا بَشَراً سَوِيّاً
Qālat 'Inn ī 'A`ūdh u Bir -Raĥmani Min ka 'In Kun ta Taqīyāan She said: “I seek Rahmمn’s (Allah’s) protection against you, leave me alone if you are Godfearing.”[19.18] قَالَتْ إِنِّ ي أَعُو ذُ بِا ل رَّحْمَنِ مِنْ كَ إِن ْ كُن تَ تَقِيّاً
Qā la 'Inn amā 'Anā Rasū lu Rabbiki Li'haba Laki Gh ulāmāan Zakīyāan He said: “Don’t be afraid, I am merely a messenger from your Rabb to tell you about the gift of a holy son.”[19.19] قَا لَ إِنَّ مَا أَنَا رَسُو لُ رَبِّكِ لِأهَبَ لَكِ غُلاَماً زَكِيّاً
Qālat 'Ann á Yakū nu Lī Gh ulā mun Wa Lam Yam sasnī Bash arun Wa Lam 'Aku Bagh īyāan She said: “How shall I bear a son, no man has ever touched me nor am I unchaste?”[19.20] قَالَتْ أَنَّ ى يَكُو نُ لِي غُلاَمٌ وَلَمْ يَمْسَسْنِي بَشَرٌ وَلَمْ أَكُ بَغِيّاً
Qā la Kadh āliki Qā la Rabbuki Huwa `Alayya Hayyinun Wa Linaj `alahu 'Ā yatan Lilnn ā si Wa Raĥmatan Minn ā Wa Kā na 'Am rāan Maq đīyāan The angel replied: “So shall it be - Your Rabb says: `It is easy for Me. We wish to make him a Sign for mankind and a blessing from Us’ - and this matter has already been decreed.”[19.21] قَا لَ كَذَلِكِ قَا لَ رَبُّكِ هُوَ عَلَيَّ هَيِّنٌ وَلِنَجْ عَلَهُ آيَة ً لِلنّ َا سِ وَرَحْمَةً مِنَّ ا وَكَا نَ أَمْراً مَقْ ضِيّاً
Faĥamalat/hu Fān tabadh at Bihi Makānāan Qaşīyāan So she conceived the child and she retired with him to a remote place.[19.22] فَحَمَلَتْهُ فَا ن تَبَذَتْ بِهِِ مَكَان اً قَصِيّاً
Fa'ajā 'ahā A l-Makh ā đu 'Ilá Jidh `i A n -Nakh lati Qālat Yā Laytanī Mittu Qab la Hādh ā Wa Kun tu Nasyāan Man sīyāan The pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm-tree. She cried in her anguish: “Ah! Would that I had died before this, and been long forgotten!”[19.23] فَأَجَاءَهَا ا لْمَخَا ضُ إِلَى جِذْعِ ا ل نَّ خْلَةِ قَالَ تْ يَالَ يْتَنِي مِتُّ قَبْ لَ هَذَا وَكُن تُ نَسْياً مَنْ سِيّاً
Fanādāhā Min Taĥtihā 'Allā Taĥzanī Qad Ja`ala Rabbuki Taĥtaki Sar īyāan An angel from beneath the palm-tree consoled her, saying: “Do not grieve! Your Rabb has provided a brook at your feet.[19.24] فَنَادَاهَا مِن ْ تَحْتِهَا أَلاَّ تَحْزَنِي قَد ْ جَعَلَ رَبُّكِ تَحْتَكِ سَر ِيّاً
Wa Huzzī 'Ilayki Bijidh `i A n -Nakh lati Tusāqiţ `Alayki Ruţabāan Janīyāan If you shake the trunk of this palm-tree, it will drop fresh ripe dates in your lap.[19.25] وَهُزِّي إِلَيْكِ بِجِذْعِ ا ل نَّ خْلَةِ تُسَاقِط ْ عَلَيْكِ رُطَباً جَنِيّاً
Fakulī Wa A sh rabī Wa Qarr ī `Aynāan Fa'imm ā Taraynn a Mina A l-Bash ar i 'Aĥadāan Faqūlī 'Inn ī Nadh artu Lilrraĥmani Şawmāan Falan 'Ukallima A l-Yawma 'In sīyāan So eat, drink and refresh yourself. If you see anyone, tell him: `I have vowed a fast to Rahmمn (Allah), so I will not speak to anyone today’.”[19.26] فَكُلِي وَاشْرَبِي وَقَرِّي عَيْن اً فَإِمَّ ا تَرَيْنّ َ مِنَ ا لْبَشَر ِ أَحَداً فَقُولِي إِنِّ ي نَذَرْتُ لِلرَّحْمَنِ صَوْماً فَلَنْ أُكَلِّمَ ا لْيَوْمَ إِن سِيّاً
Fa'atat Bihi Qawmahā Taĥmiluhu Qālū Yā Maryamu Laqad Ji'ti Sh ay'ā an Far īyāan Carrying the baby, she came back to her people. They said: “O Maryam! You have brought something hard to believe![19.27] فَأَتَتْ بِهِِ قَوْمَهَا تَحْمِلُهُُقَالُ وا يَامَرْيَمُ لَقَد ْ جِئْتِ شَيْئاً فَر ِيّاً
Yā 'Ukh ta Hārū na Mā Kā na 'Abū ki A m ra'a Saw'in Wa Mā Kānat 'Umm uki Bagh īyāan O sister (a woman from the noble family) of Haroon! Your father was not a bad man nor your mother an unchaste woman.”[19.28] يَاأُخْتَ هَارُو نَ مَا كَا نَ أَبُو كِ ا مْرَأَ سَوْءٍ وَمَا كَا نَتْ أُمُّ كِ بَغِيّاً
Fa'ash ārat 'Ilayhi Qālū Kayfa Nukallimu Man Kā na Fī A l-Mahdi Şabīyāan In response she merely pointed towards the baby. They said: “How can we talk to a babe in the cradle?”[19.29] فَأَشَارَتْ إِلَيْهِ قَالُ وا كَيْفَ نُكَلِّمُ مَن ْ كَا نَ فِي ا لْمَهْدِ صَبِيّاً
Qā la 'Inn ī `Ab du A l-Lahi 'Ā tāniya A l-Kitā ba Wa Ja`alanī Nabīyāan Whereupon the baby spoke out: “I am indeed a servant of Allah. He has given me the Book and made me a Prophet.[19.30] قَا لَ إِنِّ ي عَبْ دُ ا ل لَّهِ آتَانِيَ ا لْكِتَا بَ وَجَعَلَنِي نَبِيّاً
Wa Ja`alanī Mubārakāan 'Ayna Mā Kun tu Wa 'Awşānī Biş-Şalāati Wa A z-Zakāati Mā Dum tu Ĥayyāan His blessing is with me wherever I go. He has commanded me to establish Salah and give Zakah as long as I shall live.[19.31] وَجَعَلَنِي مُبَارَكاً أَيْنَ مَا كُن تُ وَأَوْصَانِي بِا ل صَّلاَةِ وَال زَّكَا ةِ مَا دُمْتُ حَيّاً
Wa Barrāan Biwālidatī Wa Lam Yaj `alnī Jabbārāan Sh aqīyāan He has exhorted me to honor my mother and has not made me domineering, hard to deal with.[19.32] وَبَرّاً بِوَالِدَتِي وَلَمْ يَجْ عَلْنِي جَبَّاراً شَقِيّاً
Wa A s-Salā mu `Alayya Yawma Wulid tu Wa Yawma 'Amū tu Wa Yawma 'Ub `ath u Ĥayyāan Peace be upon me the day I was born, the day I shall die and the Day I shall be raised to life again.”[19.33] وَالسَّلاَمُ عَلَيَّ يَوْمَ وُلِد ْتُ وَيَوْمَ أَمُو تُ وَيَوْمَ أُبْ عَثُ حَيّاً
Dh ālika `Īsá A b nu Maryama Qawla A l-Ĥaqqi A l-Ladh ī Fī hi Yam tarū na Such was Isa (Jesus) the son of Maryam, and this is the True statement about him concerning which they are in doubt.[19.34] ذَلِكَ عِيسَى ا بْ نُ مَرْيَمَ قَوْلَ ا لْحَقِّ ا لَّذِي فِي هِِ يَمْتَرُو نَ
Mā Kā na Lillahi 'An Yattakh idh a Min Waladin Sub ĥānahu 'Idh ā Qađá 'Am rāan Fa'inn amā Yaqū lu Lahu Kun Fayakū nu It is not befitting to the majesty of Allah that He Himself should beget a son! He is far above this; for when He decrees a matter He need only say: “Be” and it is.[19.35] مَا كَا نَ لِلَّهِ أَن ْ يَتَّخِذَ مِن ْ وَلَدٍ سُبْ حَانَهُ~ ُ إِذَا قَضَى أَمْراً فَإِنَّ مَا يَقُو لُ لَهُُكُن ْ فَيَكُو نُ
Wa 'Inn a A l-Laha Rabbī Wa Rabbukum Fā`budū hu Hādh ā Şirāţun Mustaqī mun Isa declared, Verily Allah is my Rabb and your Rabb: therefore serve Him. This is the Right Way.[19.36] وَإِنّ َ ا ل لَّهَ رَبِّي وَرَبُّكُمْ فَا عْبُدُو هُُهَذَا صِرَا طٌ مُسْتَقِي مٌ
Fākh talafa A l-'Aĥzā bu Min Baynihim Fawaylun Lilladh ī na Kafarū Min Mash /hadi Yawmin `Ažī min Inspite of this, the sects from among them are divided concerning Jesus. So woe to the disbelievers who shall be punished after witnessing this Truth on the Great Day of Judgement.[19.37] فَاخْتَلَفَ ا لأَحْزَا بُ مِن ْ بَيْنِهِمْ فَوَيْل ٌ لِلَّذِي نَ كَفَرُوا مِن ْ مَشْهَدِ يَوْمٍ عَظِي مٍ
'Asmi` Bihim Wa 'Ab şir Yawma Ya'tūnanā Lakini A ž-Žālimū na A l-Yawma Fī Đalā lin Mubī nin They will be able to see and hear very clearly on that Day when they will appear before Us! But today these wrong doers, neither want to hear nor see the Truth and, are in manifest error.[19.38] أَسْمِعْ بِهِمْ وَأَبْ صِرْ يَوْمَ يَأْتُونَنَا لَكِنِ ا ل ظَّالِمُو نَ ا لْيَوْمَ فِي ضَلاَلٍ مُبِي نٍ
Wa 'An dh ir hum Yawma A l-Ĥasrati 'Idh Quđiya A l-'Am ru Wa Hum Fī Gh aflatin Wa Hum Lā Yu'uminū na O Muhammad, forewarn them about the Day of intense regret when this matter will be decided, even though at present they are paying no heed and do not believe.[19.39] وَأَن ذِرْهُمْ يَوْمَ ا لْحَسْرَةِ إِذْ قُضِيَ ا لأَمْرُ وَهُمْ فِي غَفْلَةٍ وَهُمْ لاَ يُؤْمِنُو نَ
'Inn ā Naĥnu Nar ith u A l-'Arđa Wa Man `Alayhā Wa 'Ilaynā Yurja`ū na Ultimately, all things will perish and it is We, Who will inherit the earth and all that is on it, and to Us shall they return.[19.40] إِنَّ ا نَحْنُ نَر ِثُ ا لأَرْضَ وَمَنْ عَلَيْهَا وَإِلَيْنَا يُرْجَعُو نَ
Wa A dh kur Fī A l-Kitā bi 'Ib rāhī ma 'Inn ahu Kā na Şiddīqāan Nabīyāan Relate to them the story of Ibrمhïm from the Book (The Qur'an), he was a truthful Prophet.[19.41] وَاذْكُرْ فِي ا لْكِتَا بِ إِبْ رَاهِي مَ إِنَّ هُُكَا نَ صِدِّيقاً نَبِيّاً
'Idh Qā la Li'abī hi Yā 'Abati Lima Ta`budu Mā Lā Yasma`u Wa Lā Yub şiru Wa Lā Yugh nī `An ka Sh ay'ā an Remember when he said to his father: “O my father! Why do you worship something that can neither hear nor see, nor yet profit you in any way?[19.42] إِذْ قَا لَ لِأَبِي هِِ يَاأَبَتِ لِمَ تَعْبُدُ مَا لاَ يَسْمَعُ وَلاَ يُبْ صِر ُوَلاَ يُغْنِي عَنْ كَ شَيْئاً
Yā 'Abati 'Inn ī Qad Jā 'anī Mina A l-`Ilmi Mā Lam Ya'tika Fa A ttabi`nī 'Ahdika Şirāţāan Sawīyāan O my father! I have been given some knowledge which has not come to you, so follow me: I’ll guide you to the Right Way.[19.43] يَاأَبَتِ إِنِّ ي قَد ْ جَاءَنِي مِنَ ا لْعِلْمِ مَا لَمْ يَأْتِكَ فَا تَّبِعْنِي أَهْدِكَ صِرَاطاً سَوِيّاً
Yā 'Abati Lā Ta`budi A sh -Sh ayţā na 'Inn a A sh -Sh ayţā na Kā na Lilrraĥmani `Aşīyāan O my father! Do not worship Shaitمn: for Shaitمn is disobedient to the Compassionate (Allah).[19.44] يَاأَبَتِ لاَ تَعْبُدِ ا ل شَّيْطَا نَ إِنّ َ ا ل شَّيْطَا نَ كَا نَ لِلرَّحْمَنِ عَصِيّاً
Yā 'Abati 'Inn ī 'Akh ā fu 'An Yamassaka `Adh ā bun Mina A r-Raĥmā ni Fatakū na Lilsh sh ayţā ni Walīyāan O my father! I fear that a punishment of the Beneficent may afflict you, and you may become a friend of the Shaitمn.”[19.45] يَاأَبَتِ إِنِّ ي أَخَا فُ أَن ْ يَمَسَّكَ عَذَا بٌ مِنَ ا ل رَّحْمَنِ فَتَكُو نَ لِلشَّيْطَا نِ وَلِيّاً
Qā la 'Arāgh ibun 'An ta `An 'Ā lihatī Yā 'Ib rāhī mu La'in Lam Tan tahi La'arjumann aka Wa A hjurnī Malīyāan His father replied: “How dare you renounce my gods O Ibrمhïm? If you do not stop this folly, I will indeed stone you to death: so begone from my house this very moment!”[19.46] قَا لَ أَرَاغِبٌ أَنْ تَ عَن ْ آلِهَتِي يَاإِبْ راهِي مُ لَئِن ْ لَمْ تَن تَهِِ لَأَرْجُمَنَّ كَ وَاهْجُرْنِي مَلِيّاً
Qā la Salā mun `Alayka Sa'astagh fir u Laka Rabbī 'Inn ahu Kā na Bī Ĥafīyāan Ibrمhïm said: “Peace be upon you: I will pray to my Rabb for your forgiveness, surely He is ever Kind to me.[19.47] قَا لَ سَلاَمٌ عَلَيْكَ سَأَسْتَغْفِر ُلَكَ رَبِّي إِنَّ هُُكَا نَ بِي حَفِيّاً
Wa 'A`tazilukum Wa Mā Tad `ū na Min Dū ni A l-Lahi Wa 'Ad `ū Rabbī `Asá 'Allā 'Akū na Bidu`ā 'i Rabbī Sh aqīyāan I am leaving you and those whom you invoke besides Allah: I will call upon my Rabb and I am sure my prayers to my Rabb will not be ignored.”[19.48] وَأَعْتَزِلُكُمْ وَمَا تَد ْعُو نَ مِن ْ دُو نِ ا ل لَّهِ وَأَد ْعُو رَبِّي عَسَى أَلاَّ أَكُو نَ بِدُعَا ءِ رَبِّي شَقِيّاً
Falamm ā A `tazalahum Wa Mā Ya`budū na Min Dū ni A l-Lahi Wahab nā Lahu 'Isĥā qa Wa Ya`qū ba Wa Kullā Ja`alnā Nabīyāan So when he left them and the deities whom they worshipped besides Allah, We granted him descendants like Ishمq and Ya'qoob, and We made each of them a Prophet.[19.49] فَلَمَّ ا ا عْتَزَلَهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُو نَ مِن ْ دُو نِ ا ل لَّهِ وَهَبْ نَا لَهُ~ ُ إِسْحَا قَ وَيَعْقُو بَ وَكُلاَّ جَعَلْنَا نَبِيّاً
Wa Wahab nā Lahum Min Raĥmatinā Wa Ja`alnā Lahum Lisā na Şid qin `Alīyāan We bestowed on them Our Mercy and We granted them the honor of being mentioned with true high respect.[19.50] وَوَهَبْ نَا لَهُم ْ مِن ْ رَحْمَتِنَا وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ لِسَا نَ صِد ْقٍ عَلِيّاً
Wa A dh kur Fī A l-Kitā bi Mūsá 'Inn ahu Kā na Mukh laşāan Wa Kā na Rasūlāan Nabīyāan Relate to them the story of Musa in the Book; surely he was a chosen man and was a Rasool, a Prophet.[19.51] وَاذْكُرْ فِي ا لْكِتَا بِ مُوسَى إِنَّ هُُكَا نَ مُخْلَصاً وَكَا نَ رَسُولاً نَبِيّاً
Wa Nādaynā hu Min Jānibi A ţ -Ţū r i A l-'Aymani Wa Qarrab nā hu Najīyāan We called him from the right side of Mount Tür and honored him to come closer for exclusive conversation.[19.52] وَنَادَيْنَا هُُمِن ْ جَانِبِ ا ل طُّو ر ِ ا لأَيْمَنِ وَقَرَّبْ نَا هُُنَجِيّاً
Wa Wahab nā Lahu Min Raĥmatinā 'Akh ā hu Hārū na Nabīyāan We made his brother Haroon a Prophet with Our blessing and assigned him as his assistant.[19.53] وَوَهَبْ نَا لَهُُمِن ْ رَحْمَتِنَا أَخَا هُُهَارُو نَ نَبِيّاً
Wa A dh kur Fī A l-Kitā bi 'Ismā`ī la 'Inn ahu Kā na Şādiqa A l-Wa`di Wa Kā na Rasūlāan Nabīyāan Also relate to them the story of Isma`il in the Book; he was a man of his word and was a Rasool, a Prophet.[19.54] وَاذْكُرْ فِي ا لْكِتَا بِ إِسْمَاعِي لَ إِنَّ هُُكَا نَ صَادِقَ ا لْوَعْدِ وَكَا نَ رَسُولاً نَبِيّاً
Wa Kā na Ya'muru 'Ahlahu Biş-Şalāati Wa A z-Zakāati Wa Kā na `In da Rabbihi Marđīyāan He commanded his people to establish Salah and give Zakah, and was the one with whom his Rabb was well pleased.[19.55] وَكَا نَ يَأْمُرُ أَهْلَهُُبِا ل صَّلاَةِ وَال زَّكَا ةِ وَكَا نَ عِنْ دَ رَبِّهِِ مَرْضِيّاً
Wa A dh kur Fī A l-Kitā bi 'Id r ī sa 'Inn ahu Kā na Şiddīqāan Nabīyāan Also relate to them the story of Idrïs in the Book; he was a Truthful man, a Prophet,[19.56] وَاذْكُرْ فِي ا لْكِتَا بِ إِد ْر ِي سَ إِنَّ هُُكَا نَ صِدِّيقاً نَبِيّاً
Wa Rafa`nā hu Makānāan `Alīyāan whom We raised to a lofty place.[19.57] وَرَفَعْنَا هُُمَكَان اً عَلِيّاً
'Ū lā 'ika A l-Ladh ī na 'An`ama A l-Lahu `Alayhim Mina A n -Nabīyī na Min Dh urr īyati 'Ā dama Wa Mimm an Ĥamalnā Ma`a Nūĥin Wa Min Dh urr īyati 'Ib rāhī ma Wa 'Isrā 'ī la Wa Mimm an Hadaynā Wa A j tabaynā 'Idh ā Tutlá `Alayhim 'Ā yā tu A r-Raĥmā ni Kh arrū Sujjadāan Wa Bukīyāan These are some of the Prophets on whom Allah bestowed His favors from among the descendants of Adam and of those whom We carried in the Ark with Nüh, and of the descendants of Ibrمhïm and Israel, and of those whom We guided and chose. Whenever the Revelations of the Compassionate (Allah) were recited to them, they fell to prostrate and weep.[19.58] أُ وْلَائِكَ ا لَّذِي نَ أَنْعَمَ ا ل لَّهُ عَلَيْهِم ْ مِنَ ا ل نَّ بِيِّي نَ مِن ْ ذُرِّيَّةِ آدَمَ وَمِمَّ نْ حَمَلْنَا مَعَ نُو حٍ وَمِن ْ ذُرِّيَّةِ إِبْ رَاهِي مَ وَإِسْرَائِي لَ وَمِمَّ نْ هَدَيْنَا وَاجْ تَبَيْنَا إِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ آيَا تُ ا ل رَّحْمَنِ خَرُّوا سُجَّداً وَبُكِيّاً
Fakh alafa Min Ba`dihim Kh alfun 'Ađā`ū A ş-Şalāata Wa A ttaba`ū A sh -Sh ahawā ti Fasawfa Yalqawna Gh ayyāan But the generations who succeeded them abandoned the Salah and started following their lusts; so they will soon face the consequences of their deviation.[19.59] فَخَلَفَ مِن ْ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ أَضَاعُوا ا ل صَّلاَةَ وَاتَّبَعُوا ا ل شَّهَوَا تِ فَسَوْفَ يَلْقَوْنَ غَيّاً
'Illā Man Tā ba Wa 'Ā mana Wa `Amila Şāliĥāan Fa'ū lā 'ika Yad kh ulū na A l-Jann ata Wa Lā Yužlamū na Sh ay'ā an However, those who repent, become believers and do good deeds, will be admitted to Paradise and will not be wronged in the least.[19.60] إِلاَّ مَن ْ تَا بَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِ حاً فَأُ وْلَائِكَ يَد ْخُلُو نَ ا لْجَنَّ ةَ وَلاَ يُظْلَمُو نَ شَيْئاً
Jann ā ti `Ad nin A llatī Wa`ada A r-Raĥmā nu `Ibādahu Bil-Gh aybi 'Inn ahu Kā na Wa`duhu Ma'tīyāan They will be granted the Gardens of Eden which the Merciful has promised to His servants, even though they have not seen them, and His promise shall be fulfilled.[19.61] جَنّ َا تِ عَد ْنٍ ا لَّتِي وَعَدَ ا ل رَّحْمَنُ عِبَادَهُُبِا لْغَيْبِ إِنَّ هُُكَا نَ وَعْدُهُُمَأْتِيّاً
Lā Yasma`ū na Fīhā Lagh wan 'Illā Salāmāan Wa Lahum R izquhum Fīhā Bukratan Wa `Ash īyāan There they will hear no nonsense, but only the words of peace; and they will be provided their sustenance day and night.[19.62] لاَ يَسْمَعُو نَ فِيهَا لَغْواً إِلاَّ سَلاَماً وَلَهُمْ ر ِزْقُهُمْ فِيهَا بُكْرَةً وَعَشِيّاً
Tilka A l-Jann atu A llatī Nūr ith u Min `Ibādinā Man Kā na Taqīyāan Such is the Paradise which We shall give as an inheritance to those of Our Servants who lead a pious life.[19.63] تِلْكَ ا لْجَنَّ ةُ ا لَّتِي نُور ِثُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا مَن ْ كَا نَ تَقِيّاً
Wa Mā Natanazzalu 'Illā Bi'am r i Rabbika Lahu Mā Bayna 'Aydīnā Wa Mā Kh alfanā Wa Mā Bayna Dh ālika Wa Mā Kā na Rabbuka Nasīyāan The angel Gabriel who brought this revelation after a long interval said: “We do not descend from heaven except by the command of your Rabb; to Him belongs whatever is before us and whatever is behind us and all that lies in between. Your Rabb is never forgetful.[19.64] وَمَا نَتَنَزَّلُ إِلاَّ بِأَمْر ِ رَبِّكَ لَهُُمَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا وَمَا خَلْفَنَا وَمَا بَيْنَ ذَلِكَ وَمَا كَا نَ رَبُّكَ نَسِيّاً
Rabbu A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđi Wa Mā Baynahumā Fā`bud /hu Wa A şţabir Li`ibādatihi Hal Ta`lamu Lahu Samīyāan He is the Rabb of the heavens and the earth, and of all that lies in between, so worship Him, be steadfast in His worship. Do you know any other being with the qualities like Him?”[19.65] رَبُّ ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَالأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فَا عْبُد ْهُ وَاصْطَبِرْ لِعِبَادَتِهِِ هَلْ تَعْلَمُ لَهُُسَمِيّاً
Wa Yaqū lu A l-'In sā nu 'A'idh ā Mā Mittu Lasawfa 'Ukh raju Ĥayyāan Man says: “What! Once I am dead, shall I be raised to life again?”[19.66] وَيَقُو لُ ا لإِن سَا نُ أَئِذَا مَا مِتُّ لَسَوْفَ أُخْرَجُ حَيّاً
'Awalā Yadh kuru A l-'In sā nu 'Ann ā Kh alaq nā hu Min Qab lu Wa Lam Yaku Sh ay'ā an Does not man remember that We created him before out of nothing?[19.67] أَوَلاَ يَذْكُرُ ا لإِن سَا نُ أَنَّ ا خَلَقْ نَا هُُمِن ْ قَبْ لُ وَلَمْ يَكُ شَيْئاً
Fawarabbika Lanaĥsh urann ahum Wa A sh -Sh ayāţī na Th umm a Lanuĥđirann ahum Ĥawla Jahann ama Jith īyāan By your Rabb, We will call them to account in the company of all their shaitمns and set them on their knees around the Fire of Hell;[19.68] فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَحْشُرَنَّ هُمْ وَال شَّيَاطِي نَ ثُمّ َ لَنُحْضِرَنَّ هُمْ حَوْلَ جَهَنَّ مَ جِثِيّاً
Th umm a Lanan zi`ann a Min Kulli Sh ī`atin 'Ayyuhum 'Ash addu `Alá A r-Raĥmā ni `Itīyāan then from every sect We will certainly drag out its stoutest rebels against the Compassionate (Allah).[19.69] ثُمّ َ لَنَن زِعَنّ َ مِن ْ كُلِّ شِيعَةٍ أَيُّهُمْ أَشَدُّ عَلَى ا ل رَّحْمَنِ عِتِيّاً
Th umm a Lanaĥnu 'A`lamu Bial-Ladh ī na Hum 'Awlá Bihā Şilīyāan Certainly We know best who deserves most to be burned therein.[19.70] ثُمّ َ لَنَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِا لَّذِي نَ هُمْ أَوْلَى بِهَا صِلِيّاً
Wa 'In Min kum 'Illā Wa A r iduhā Kā na `Alá Rabbika Ĥatmāan Maq đīyāan There is not a single one of you, who shall not pass over it, this absolute decree of your Rabb is unavoidable;[19.71] وَإِن ْ مِنْ كُمْ إِلاَّ وَار ِدُهَا كَا نَ عَلَى رَبِّكَ حَتْماً مَقْ ضِيّاً
Th umm a Nunajjī A l-Ladh ī na A ttaqaw Wa Nadh aru A ž-Žālimī na Fīhā Jith īyāan then We will deliver those who were pious during their life on earth and leave the wrongdoers therein humbled on their knees.[19.72] ثُمّ َ نُنَجِّي ا لَّذِي نَ ا تَّقَوْا وَنَذَرُ ا ل ظَّالِمِي نَ فِيهَا جِثِيّاً
Wa 'Idh ā Tutlá `Alayhim 'Ā yātunā Bayyinā tin Qā la A l-Ladh ī na Kafarū Lilladh ī na 'Ā manū 'Ayyu A l-Far īqayni Kh ayrun Maqāmāan Wa 'Aĥsanu Nadīyāan When Our Clear Revelations are recited to them the unbelievers say to the believer: “Which one, of the two of us, have fine dwelling and better companions?”[19.73] وَإِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُنَا بَيِّنَا تٍ قَا لَ ا لَّذِي نَ كَفَرُوا لِلَّذِي نَ آمَنُو ا أَيُّ ا لْفَر ِيقَيْنِ خَيْرٌ مَقَاماً وَأَحْسَنُ نَدِيّاً
Wa Kam 'Ahlaknā Qab lahum Min Qarnin Hum 'Aĥsanu 'Ath āth āan Wa R i'yāan Don’t they see, how many generations have We destroyed before them, who were far greater in riches and in splendor?[19.74] وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْ لَهُم ْ مِن ْ قَرْنٍ هُمْ أَحْسَنُ أَثَاثاً وَر ِئْياً
Qul Man Kā na Fī A đ-Đalālati Falyam dud Lahu A r-Raĥmā nu Maddāan Ĥattá 'Idh ā Ra'aw Mā Yū`adū na 'Imm ā A l-`Adh ā ba Wa 'Imm ā A s-Sā`ata Fasaya`lamū na Man Huwa Sh arrun Makānāan Wa 'Ađ`afu Jun dāan Tell them: “Anyone who has gone astray, the Compassionate (Allah) prolongs his respite and extends an opportunity until they see about which they were warned; - be it a worldly scourge or the Hour of Doom - then they will realize whose is the worst dwelling and whose are the weak companions?[19.75] قُلْ مَن ْ كَا نَ فِي ا ل ضَّلاَلَةِ فَلْيَمْدُد ْ لَهُ ا ل رَّحْمَنُ مَدّاً حَتَّى إِذَا رَأَوْا مَا يُوعَدُو نَ إِمَّ ا ا لْعَذَا بَ وَإِمَّ ا ا ل سَّاعَةَ فَسَيَعْلَمُو نَ مَنْ هُوَ شَرٌّ مَكَان اً وَأَضْعَفُ جُن داً
Wa Yazī du A l-Lahu A l-Ladh ī na A htadaw Hudáan Wa A l-Bāqiyā tu A ş-Şāliĥā tu Kh ayrun `In da Rabbika Th awābāan Wa Kh ayrun Maraddāan In fact, Allah increases in guidance those who seek guidance; everlasting are only the good deeds, which are the best in the sight of your Rabb to earn you a better reward and yield you the best fruit?”[19.76] وَيَزِي دُ ا ل لَّهُ ا لَّذِي نَ ا هْتَدَوْا هُدىً وَالْبَاقِيَا تُ ا ل صَّالِحَا تُ خَيْرٌ عِنْ دَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَاباً وَخَيْرٌ مَرَدّاً
'Afara'ayta A l-Ladh ī Kafara Bi'ā yātinā Wa Qā la La'ū tayann a Mālāan Wa Waladāan Have you noticed the words of that person who rejects Our Revelations yet boasts: “I shall always be given wealth and children.”[19.77] أَفَرَأَيْتَ ا لَّذِي كَفَرَ بِآيَاتِنَا وَقَا لَ لَأُ وتَيَنّ َ مَالاً وَوَلَداً
'Ā ţţala`a A l-Gh ayba 'Am A ttakh adh a `In da A r-Raĥmā ni `Ahdāan Has he gained knowledge of the Unseen or has he been awarded a contract by the Compassionate (Allah)?[19.78] أَا طَّلَعَ ا لْغَيْبَ أَمْ ا تَّخَذَ عِنْ دَ ا ل رَّحْمَنِ عَهْداً
Kallā Sanaktubu Mā Yaqū lu Wa Namuddu Lahu Mina A l-`Adh ā bi Maddāan By no means! We write down what he says and We will make his punishment long and terrible.[19.79] كَلاَّ سَنَكْتُبُ مَا يَقُو لُ وَنَمُدُّ لَهُُمِنَ ا لْعَذَا بِ مَدّاً
Wa Nar ith uhu Mā Yaqū lu Wa Ya'tīnā Fardāan We will inherit all that he boasts of, and he will come back to Us all alone leaving all these things behind.[19.80] وَنَر ِثُهُُمَا يَقُو لُ وَيَأْتِينَا فَرْداً
Wa A ttakh adh ū Min Dū ni A l-Lahi 'Ā lihatan Liyakūnū Lahum `Izzāan They have taken other deities for worship besides Allah, so that they should be a source of strength to them.[19.81] وَا تَّخَذُوا مِن ْ دُو نِ ا ل لَّهِ آلِهَة ً لِيَكُونُوا لَهُمْ عِزّاً
Kallā Sayakfurū na Bi`ibādatihim Wa Yakūnū na `Alayhim Điddāan By no means! Those very deities will renounce their worship and turn against them on the Day of Judgement.[19.82] كَلاَّ سَيَكْفُرُو نَ بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ وَيَكُونُو نَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضِدّاً
'Alam Tara 'Ann ā 'Arsalnā A sh -Sh ayāţī na `Alá A l-Kāfir ī na Ta'uuzzuhum 'Azzāan Don’t you see that We have sent down to the unbelievers shaitمns who incite them against the Truth?[19.83] أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ا أَرْسَلْنَا ا ل شَّيَاطِي نَ عَلَى ا لْكَافِر ِي نَ تَؤُزُّهُمْ أَزّاً
Falā Ta`jal `Alayhim 'Inn amā Na`uddu Lahum `Addāan Therefore be not in haste against them, their days are numbered.[19.84] فَلاَ تَعْجَلْ عَلَيْهِمْ إِنَّ مَا نَعُدُّ لَهُمْ عَدّاً
Yawma Naĥsh uru A l-Muttaqī na 'Ilá A r-Raĥmā ni Wafdāan The Day will surely come when We will gather the righteous like honored guests before the Compassionate (Allah),[19.85] يَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ ا لْمُتَّقِي نَ إِلَى ا ل رَّحْمَنِ وَفْداً
Wa Nasū qu A l-Muj r imī na 'Ilá Jahann ama Wir dāan and drive the criminals to Hell like thirsty cattle are driven to water.[19.86] وَنَسُو قُ ا لْمُجْ ر ِمِي نَ إِلَى جَهَنَّ مَ وِرْداً
Lā Yam likū na A sh -Sh afā`ata 'Illā Mani A ttakh adh a `In da A r-Raĥmā ni `Ahdāan None shall have the power to intercede except the one who may receive the sanction of the Compassionate (Allah).[19.87] لاَ يَمْلِكُو نَ ا ل شَّفَاعَةَ إِلاَّ مَنِ ا تَّخَذَ عِنْ دَ ا ل رَّحْمَنِ عَهْداً
Wa Qālū A ttakh adh a A r-Raĥmā nu Waladāan Those who say: “The Compassionate (God) has begotten a son,”[19.88] وَقَالُوا ا تَّخَذَ ا ل رَّحْمَنُ وَلَداً
Laqad Ji'tum Sh ay'ā an 'Iddāan certainly preach such a monstrous falsehood,[19.89] لَقَد ْ جِئْتُمْ شَيْئاً إِدّاً
Takā du A s-Samāwā tu Yatafaţţarna Minhu Wa Tan sh aqqu A l-'Arđu Wa Takh irru A l-Jibā lu Haddāan that the very Heavens might crack, the earth might cleave asunder and the mountains might crumble to pieces[19.90] تَكَا دُ ا ل سَّمَاوَا تُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِنْهُ وَتَن شَقُّ ا لأَرْضُ وَتَخِرُّ ا لْجِبَا لُ هَدّاً
'An Da`aw Lilrraĥmani Waladāan - at their ascribing a son to the Compassionate (God),[19.91] أَن ْ دَعَوْا لِلرَّحْمَنِ وَلَداً
Wa Mā Yan bagh ī Lilrraĥmani 'An Yattakh idh a Waladāan It is not befitting to the Compassionate (God) that He should beget a son.[19.92] وَمَا يَنْ بَغِي لِلرَّحْمَنِ أَن ْ يَتَّخِذَ وَلَداً
'In Kullu Man Fī A s-Samāwā ti Wa A l-'Arđi 'Illā 'Ā tī A r-Raĥmā ni `Ab dāan There is none in the heavens and in the earth but must come to the Compassionate (Allah) in full submission.[19.93] إِن ْ كُلُّ مَن ْ فِي ا ل سَّمَاوَا تِ وَالأَرْضِ إِلاَّ آتِي ا ل رَّحْمَنِ عَبْ داً
Laqad 'Aĥşāhum Wa `Addahum `Addāan He has a comprehensive knowledge and has kept strict count of all His creatures,[19.94] لَقَد ْ أَحْصَاهُمْ وَعَدَّهُمْ عَدّاً
Wa Kulluhum 'Ā tī hi Yawma A l-Qiyāmati Fardāan and every one of them will come to Him individually on the Day of Resurrection.[19.95] وَكُلُّهُمْ آتِي هِِ يَوْمَ ا لْقِيَامَةِ فَرْداً
'Inn a A l-Ladh ī na 'Ā manū Wa `Amilū A ş-Şāliĥā ti Sayaj `alu Lahumu A r-Raĥmā nu Wuddāan Surely the Beneficent will bring about love for those who believe and do good deeds.[19.96] إِنّ َ ا لَّذِي نَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا ا ل صَّالِحَا تِ سَيَجْ عَلُ لَهُمُ ا ل رَّحْمَنُ وُدّاً
Fa'inn amā Yassarnā hu Bilisānika Litubash sh ir a Bihi A l-Muttaqī na Wa Tun dh ir a Bihi Qawmāan Luddāan We have made this Qur’an easy in your own language so that you may give good news to the righteous and warn the headstrong contentious folk.[19.97] فَإِنَّ مَا يَسَّرْنَا هُُبِلِسَانِكَ لِتُبَشِّر َ بِهِ ا لْمُتَّقِي نَ وَتُن ذِر َ بِهِِ قَوْماً لُدّاً
Wa Kam 'Ahlaknā Qab lahum Min Qarnin Hal Tuĥissu Minhum Min 'Aĥadin 'Aw Tasma`u Lahum R ikzāan How many generations have We destroyed before them! Can you see any of them, or hear even a sound of them?[19.98] وَكَمْ أَهْلَكْنَا قَبْ لَهُم ْ مِن ْ قَرْنٍ هَلْ تُحِسُّ مِنْهُم ْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ أَوْ تَسْمَعُ لَهُمْ ر ِكْزاً
